Can’t help but think the team had its best year in many a long year at precisely the same time Jack Steele had his breakout year.

I desperately wanted Jack Steven to become captaincy material but alas - not to be. Finally we have a gun midfielder who’s declared his desire to assume the role.

I don't mind it, I really don't think onfield leadership is an issue anymore, it was problematic a few seasons ago and now the problem seems to be fixed. Well done to all that were part of the solution.

The next Captain will be well supported who ever he is and that is a strong postion to be in.

... so it seems like the club views 2021 as a leadership transition year with Steele set to become a long term solo captain from 2022 onwards.
