Broadcast Guide - Where Is It?

Post: # 1890629Post cps »

Hi Folks,

In years past there was a broadcast guide on the AFL's website which said which games were on free-to-air TV and which were on Fox. I can't seem to find it for this year. Is it available anywhere?

Cheers!

AFL app has *no* broadcast guide.
This is rubbish.

I've had Kayo in the past - was excellent!

Living in a rental, my landlord won't let me get Foxtel.
And I'm on a limited income.

So I'll just get Kayo for $5/mth, discounted cos I'm a Telstra customer, and stream from android phone to TV via Chromecast.

Try the Kayo app. It works great on my TV.

I will sign up, I have Chromecast Gen 2, will try.
Chromecast Gen 1 isn't supported, but I know Gen 3 is, I'm hoping my Gen 2 is ok, there's no info on Kayo's site about Gen 2.
Online chat with Kayo- they wouldn't respond (long queue)

How much data would it use for a game?

It would be the same amount of data to stream directly to your TV -- assuming it can connect via Wi-Fi on its own -- as streaming it to your phone in HD.

It just cuts out the middle man and is a bit less fiddly than the crhomecast which I always had trouble using with my phone to cast videos from Kayo on my TV which is why I mention it.

If you put the app on your tv then basically it does the rest.

(Also it's not just you the only complaint I could make about Kayo is customer service which on the one time I had to contact them was utterly atrocious.)

Looks like the info for the first two rounds is on the AFL website - both games are on FTA.

Thanks WS.
The ONLY reason I am with Telstra is to get the free AFL streaming.

I probably didn't bother reading emails from Telstra (usually rubbish) so have only just realised they no longer offer this service.
First thought is to walk away from Telstra.
But are you saying the $5 Kayo deal is only for Telstra customers?
And do you apply for it via Telstra or Kayo?
So effectively my cost is going up $5 per month for the same service (unless I want to watch Latvian curling matches)?

Anyone know how to watch overseas. Kayo doesn’t work. AFLs WatchAFL package is specifically for overseas, and it just went up 30% per month. $39 bucks a month! Or $20 a week, cheeky buggers.

That is petrol money!
(It’s also money that gets wasted a million different ways...) still.
Pissed about this price hike.

$10 a week for 9 matches. No traffic, no queues, ringside seats, cheap food and beverages? Sounds like a bargain.

I am like you.
Only stayed with Telstra because of AFL Live Pass being free, and the data used by the app was free as well.
I could watch our games as many times as I wanted.

For 2021, AFL Live Pass is retired.
The AFL App is free to Telstra customers, but live games are gone.
We can still watch full match replays (replay is available 12 hrs after the final siren), we get match highlights, live score updates, etc.

To get Kayo Basic, you apply via Telstra.
$5/mth instead of $25/mth
You need to have enrolled with AFL App last year (through your Telstra mobile account) and your membership just rolls over.
Cut-off for Kayo offer is 31 May 2021.

Get into your AFL App, on the home page,
-Click on the 3 dots in top right corner
-then select 'Live Pass Information'
-there's several links in red font, using the word 'here'

Note: in 2022, Kayo Basic will revert to $25/mth

Hi Shane,

I just paid for a yearly subscription for AFL Live Pass. Didn't sweat on it. It's all in the mind.

I downloaded the app onto my Smart TV.

My timezone difference is really excellent. Most games are played during my overnight hours. I don't read anything and press play on the Saints game in the morning. For me that is the same as watching it live. After the game I hit the internet. Then watch the game again the next day.

I also watch the shows - On The Couch, AFL 360, and Open Mike when it was available last year.

So for about $170 per year I get all that. For me it is well worth it. Pay the money and pamper yourself a little bit. It really helps when you are far from home.

Have fun and enjoy the footy.

I just purchased a St Kilda international membership, which includes a yearly WatchAFL pass for $191 AUD. Before I knew about this I'd just get a monthly subscription from March-October which now would cost about $40 per month, or $360 for the 9 months.
