I don’t know if it’s his attitude... or the coach’s complete lack of faith in him has rattled his confidence... or it’s injury... or most likely some combination of all of these.

He was a vital cog in our defence when we had the best backline this club had seen in 10 years... but when Darragh Joyce replaces a player of his talent and experience in the role of you defender then just stick a fork in him because he is DONE.

IMO Carlisle should not play again this season unless the cupboard is absolutely bare and mercifully cut at the end of the season

He’s now behind Joyce, Highmore and Clavarino IMO
I wouldn't go that far but he needs to get on his bike pronto because he is is on the brink.

Now, tell me. What is Joyce’s role in the team exactly? It’s not like he can actually get or demand the ball.

Concerning.

Carlisle has never been a great one on one defender

6-6-6 has been an issue for him

He was cooked long ago. Another wasted talent. His attitude has been poor for a couple of years. Pop him in the folder of VFL only, along with McKenzie, Lonie, Dunstan and Long. List cloggers.

I think you are on the money. He did have the serious back injury though.

He pulled his finger out in last year's EF. He was very good in that game.

Wonder if Long would do better at another club? He needs to get his sh.t together.

Butler listed to play wing, even better if he swings through the middle

I'm wondering how incapacitated Carlisle is due to his ongoing back issues, i just don't see how he can be the player he was, or should have been, if his back is stuffed.

Agree he is now a list clogger.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Same cannot be said for Mr Undroppable.
What message does that send to the group?
If you are soft as butter and run around playing bruise free footy I’ll keep you in the side no matter how weak your performance.

Dunstan is probably not AFL standard but where is selection integrity and encouragement when 46 possessions in the twos doesn’t get you a game in a team that was flogged by 80 points.

Weak as piss Rotten.
I agree. I wanted Carlisle, Long and Hill out - commented that I expected to see a huge change in endeavour from the team if it happened. A complete stuff up keeping Hill in. I’m starting to think the selectors are clueless. The only other explanation is that Hill has dirty photos of them

Carlisle must be injured.
Surely playing a 60% fit Carlisle down back in his best position for the first time this season would be preferable over Joyce!?

Carlisle has had his last chance. His attitude and body language say it all. Stick a fork in him. He's cooked.

Jaegar and winguard are being managed for this game..! What does resting two players of that ilk signal from the hawks?

I fear a classic st kilda loss coming up to a heavily undermanned but ‘inspired’ hawks.

Unless our midfield do something other than stand around and watch the opposition get the loose ball, then it's Hawks by 30 points

Rhetorical question to the selectors:

Why weren't any of our midfield onballers dropped?

Possible answer - Maybe they are waiting to see how they will go with a ruckman in the side before dropping regular midfielders.

Aren't Wingard and O'Meara injured?

A big bonus to our chances of winning.

Doubt Hawks would be taking us lightly if that's what you're suggesting. They are on the same number of wins as us.

The Rock Star being undropable has to be creating tension with some players. Has to. It's human nature.

I hope Ratts knows what he's doing because he could be doing him more harm than good by leaving him in the team, especially if he has another shocker this week.

I suppose while Ratts thinks he's still a chance to get the team into the finals he has to follow a certain strategy.

If we lose to the Hawks will we still be a chance for finals?

The Hawthorn team on paper is a lot more talented and capable than ours is today. Consider these names:

Gunston
Shiels
O'Brien
McEvoy
Breust

Multiple premiership players, every one.

While we are missing our two best midfielders in Gresham and Hannebery.

Don't believe the hype, this match is no gimmee, and if we win it will be a very good one.

Maybe they have few choices....
Ross, Steele, Crouch, Jones, Bytel, Billing sand Byrnes ?

Not the scariest midfield..

HClark doesn’t seem as promising midfield and Gresh gone..

Okay, obviously Steele is our best midfielder, and Ross, with Jones a potential. I prefer Gresh as forward actually.

If we lose today then the season is dead, no question.
