Incorrect call. A player getting tackled has to dispose of the ball and he did. Didn’t change direction.
Bemarrassing = Bemusing and Embarrassing.
At a umpiring seminar we attended deliberate was a topic. One of the examples shown was similar to Howard’s. Most people automatically said deliberate. The guy then informed us that it was actually not. Reason given he didn’t change his line to get the ball out. He has to dispose of the ball once tackled.
At this seminar did "the guy" actually give you a reference point to the rules before the kool aid was served?
Actually we got a tray of club sandwiches.
Yet no reference to the actual "straight line" rule you promote. No doubt cucumber was involved with those sandwiches.
It was explained to us during the meeting. Perhaps you go to one yourself.

We’re they StKilda sandwiches or another club?
If another club I’m assuming they were cheating and sanctioned by the AFL to do so

Perhaps you quote the actual rule you allege. I don't go to meetings that start with, "My name is...". However they are incredibly important to society, not so much umpiring.

Just cut and paste this rule for us please.
For all the less informed posters who don't understand the rule.

You two just continue yelling ball and kick it long from the sidelines. No one expects you buzzards to understand.
Paste the link, just put up or shut up Curly.
BTW, I think the only one here who'd be yelling ball is you judging by your emotional bizarre rants about umpires and total lack of understanding of the rules of the game.

Law 15.6.1(c) A free kick shall be awarded against a player who:
Intentionally kicks, handballs or forces the football over the boundary line, without the football being touched by another player.
That is the rule. How the f*** the umpire could adjudicate that the ball wasn't touched by another player, in this case the tackler, I will never know. If you can't see it, you can't pay it.
pretty clear on the replay the ball left his hand before his right hand got there. incorrect call, but in real time you'd be the best ump in the world to see it.

You wouldn't be the worst if you admitted you couldn't see it though. However, they would be crucified for being so brave and honest.

very true. i wish umps would have a consistent rule to simply put away the whistle when its a fifty-fifty or they are unsighted. they seem to do so whenever a geelong or bulldogs player gets tackled in possession.
