Re: Hill has to go
Cant get rid of him. We would get a forth rounder at best and have to pay half his salary.
Cant drop him due to lockdown. Therefore no games to play back into form.
L
Wow there is some bad press around about him.

Would bring dropped to the 2s (or week off if they’re not playing) help him find some motivation?bangaulegend wrote: ↑Sun 30 May 2021 9:13pm Has been up & down payed way overs for him on a f-cking ridiculous contract but his ours now & we have to play him to get our moneys worth yes he is soft but he does have skill & pace so lets hope we can find form
Short term pain (barely) for long term gain?

We won by 20 points. His pass to Gears was nice. The North guy who shut him down didn't do much, did he?
Unless he is deliberately displaying contempt - which would dishonour the jumper and must be punished - I think he has to play. Sure, there comes a point.

mnn...well. as I said, there comes a point. He's not the only one struggling, but as you point out, the other dude did a few things.The_Dud wrote: ↑Sun 30 May 2021 11:34pmThe North guy playing on him had 14 disposals at 85% while Hill had 6 at 50%shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sun 30 May 2021 11:15pm We won by 20 points. Re: Hill has to go
The club can do what they look until the end of the year but from 2022 onwards we'll have an unmotivated player wasting his skills for three years.
Would be best fror all if we trade him for as high a pick as possible and underwrite his salary at his new club.
Those responsible for his recruiting should also be moved on.

The other thing the club and the President and the board can learn is that they shouldn't be mortgaging the farm for anyoneWaltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Mon 31 May 2021 12:08am The club can do what they look until the end of the year but from 2022 onwards we'll have an unmotivated player wasting his skills for three years.

...unless they're a bona fide A grader like a Fyfe or Mundy or a multiple All Australian type BUT they need to be in their prime.

I reckon Ratts has lost some of the playing group.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Sat 29 May 2021 11:40pmPresser full of contradictions.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Sat 29 May 2021 10:55pm If the coach can't instruct the team to do what he wants whats' the point . No wonder we are going backwards
He's lying thru his teeth.
He bemoans the fact that the guys put the cue in the rack and don't do the team thing, they play selfish, and they don't do the team thing by giving Golden Boy the ball, etc, and in all our big losses they guys don't follow what we stand for...
Then he says that the guys are good at fulfilling their roles or similar.

Something ‘inside’ seems to be up. Knowing admin, doesn’t look like there will be any mea cupla. And maybe there shouldn’t be...but it’s sad..spert wrote: ↑Mon 31 May 2021 9:18amI reckon Ratts has lost some of the playing group.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Sat 29 May 2021 11:40pmPresser full of contradictions.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Sat 29 May 2021 10:55pm If the coach can't instruct the team to do what he wants whats' the point . $900k a year hey ZIG is this another touch of genius recruiting by you as with Hannebery.
I think some players may not be happy with the situation.

'There is a disconnect' might be an understatement, there is disillusionment might be more apt. On the outside it might just look like lethargy or lack of effort, but inside it is probably a lot of cross wires connected in the wrong way!

Re: Hill has to go
If Ratten wants to regain the trust of the playing group and send a message he has to drop Hill. It shouldnt matter what he is getting paid, the same non negotiables have to apply to Hill as others.
If Ratts finds more excuses for Hill this week, then he is not a very astute coach and will fail in selling the message to the group.

Re: Hill has to go
We all know what would happen if we got rid of him to a good club and we get another average player in return while paying 50% of his salary. The good club will know how to use him, he will become a very good player again and be another St.Kilda player who wins a premiership at another club.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

He's already a St Kilda player who won a premiership at another club. Spook
-player favourite
-3-4 weeks 40+ Touches no selection, meets all standards St Kilda sets.
- finally gets a game, smashes in, one of best on
- modest wage
- leader
- born and bred saint
Hill
- new player to the group
- doesn’t touch it, fails to meet teams basic standards, keeps his spot
- massive wage
- follower
- gun for hire
There will be a few texts between players I imagine questioning Hills spot in the team...
Pretty good way to lose the players if you are the coach.
Rats needs to park the emotion he has to his players and start to do what’s best for the team. He has a small window and it gets smaller every week.
