Re: Leo Connolly
He was giving instructions as well, which was good for a first gamer, to me it meant he was right in the game.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

The kid did well with his time on the ground. Agree I hope with Coffield injured he gets a few weeks to show what hes got.

Re: Leo Connolly
Through adverstity comes opportunity, he showed a bit of bounce and demand for a young fella. Would he have got a game if we were up the ladder a bit?

Re: Leo Connolly
Looks like a smart footballer, skillfull and prepared to take the game on.
I'm seeing shades of Joel Smith in the way he moves and reads the play. I hope he continues along those lines.

I didn't realise he had 11 possessions (2 more that Coffield)

Re: Leo Connolly
He had a heap of cheap kicks at the end ..... Coffield was very good tonight before he went off injured
Bit rough to compare the 2

Can kick both feet. His first kick in AFL wasn't a grubber. We'll probably trade him.

Re: Leo Connolly
Did about as well as you could hope for a debutant coming on late in the game. Has a bit of arrogance and very good footskills. Two things we have been crying out for

Re: Leo Connolly
I’m actually not sure what foot he kicks on??
From marks, he kicked over the man on the mark left footed, then he did it right footed a few mins later?!

Re: Leo Connolly
I noticed that. Thought he might be a lefty initially, but the right ball drop is a little more efficient and looks like his natural side.

Worth noting the Brions beat Girlong last night with the 7 youngest players on the 2 team lists.
And, my, my, didn't the 'aged care' group fumble one helluva lot.

Leo didn't seem overawed one little bit and those foot skills are beautiful.....need to keep playing him especially with Coff out for at least a couple of weeks

Re: Leo Connolly
Back on Leo, gee if this kid can actually establish himself as a small running defender, then his foot skills will be like gold for our mids and forwards.

Re: Leo Connolly
IMO showed a bit really liked his willingness to take the game on & his foot skills, keep playing him we might be pleasantly surprised of what he can deliver. Give a bloke an opportunity to compete at highest level & in our current situation its a win win he gains experience & we get to see what he can do

I saw him marshalling the troops a couple of times as well - that's a bit cheeky in your first game to be doing that but I love itbangaulegend wrote: ↑Sun 27 Jun 2021 8:51pm IMO showed a bit really liked his willingness to take the game on & his foot skills, keep playing him we might be pleasantly surprised of what he can deliver. Re: Leo Connolly
Happy for the kid, but a bit of perspective. Most of Leo’s possessions were accumulated in junk time when we were basically playing keepings off.
Hope he gets another opportunity to show what he’s got, this time when the game is still on the line.

Re: Leo Connolly
Fair call but as I said in my original post let's give him a chance & we won't know if he's playing at SandyKick-it-lace-out wrote: ↑Tue 29 Jun 2021 9:10pm Happy for the kid, but a bit of perspective.
