“ Carlton has turned to former Blue Aaron Hamill as the club continues to meet with prospective assistant coaches for next season.
Hamill met with Blues football boss Brad Lloyd last week to talk about a potential role at Princes Park next year. St Kilda is aware of Carlton’s approach.”

Re: Hamill interviewed by Blues
It had been mentioned that two of the assistants had been told they would moving on. Obviously Hamill is one of them. Even more so than the senior coach I believe the assistant role is a perishable skill as to what each individual can bring.
Changing assistants every couple of seasons with the obvious over lap should be the norm IMO.

I have never liked him, even when he played.
He only came to us because John Elliott bagged out "certain greedy players" at some formal Blues function.

Certainly not a fan of Elliott, but I felt much more comfortable when he was in the line-up, he really put the wind up the opposition, not convinced in his role as Assistant, although I don't know any details for or against - just the seemingly results.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 29 Jun 2021 12:39am I have never liked him, even when he played.

Re: Hamill interviewed by Blues
As a player, Hamil was an interesting case. I don’t think we really got value for money as player and it’s especially annoying that Aaron missed both the GT era prelims
As a leader of the club though he crushed it. He was the perfect role model for Hayes, Roo, Kosi, Dal, Goddard and the rest of the young brigade. He really was a driving force of the us and them culture, giving 100% and fierce attacking the contest.
Don’t know much about his pedigree as an assistant. He’s been there for a long time so he must at least be competent

Re: Hamill interviewed by Blues
A degenerative knee injury cruelled his playing days.
He plays in finals series, we would’ve won IMO

Re: Hamill interviewed by Blues
If he played in the prelims we possibly have an extra cup. He's exactly what this current list needs.skeptic wrote: ↑Tue 29 Jun 2021 9:10am As a player, Hamil was an interesting case. But, he didn't play, so no extra cups, plenty of spoons though.
History IS what it is.
History IS what it is.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

The best thing about our History is we're still here !
St kilda was basically only invited to join the VFL when it started because we had a good ground .
Up until the 60s the VFL was not unlike most suburban league's .
The teams with the money are the most successful .
We've never had any money so the fact that we are still alive and kicking after 148 years is a good thing .
