Re: Paul Hunter
Natanui has some skills and good agility but geez he grabs 2 marks a game and probably has less than 10 possessions. Put him in an average side and he might struggle.

Re: Paul Hunter
Hunter would know where he is in the pecking order. What he needs to do is just play to his strengths.
He is a massive unit, he should be physically involved at every contest.
So basically, just be like Longer.
That is about perfect for a thrid or fourth picked ruckman.

Are you honestly saying that Hill was very good?CURLY wrote: ↑Sat 24 Jul 2021 9:35pmHill was very good.Gershwin wrote: ↑Sat 24 Jul 2021 9:26pm It's funny how people pick on the player who is probably on the lowest contract and has to play on one of the top Ruckmen or in a position that he is unfamiliar with.
I thought he tried hard, contested well and dobbed a goal.
Now try and defend:
Hill
Long
Billings
Crouch
Dunstan
Billing’s playing injured
Dunstan was down but wasn’t horrendous
I think you have totally lost any credibility now.

I thought he was all right as well. Maybe I should go to Specsavers again.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sat 24 Jul 2021 9:26pm I thought he was alright today. Was competitive in the Ruck, didn’t do much up forward but could have had two goals if they hadn’t missed an obvious free in the last.

Yeah he did ok. Looks a bit gawky so people like to have a go at him.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sat 24 Jul 2021 10:42pmI thought he was all right as well. Re: Paul Hunter
I wonder how he would go with a proper preseason and a lot of ruck coaching.
I think we will be chasing a better option, so will depend on who's around.

Re: Paul Hunter
Thought as a third/fourth ruck he wasn’t to bad today. Who would you play ahead of him?B.M wrote: ↑Sat 24 Jul 2021 8:29pm Fancy trying to play Hunter in Marshall’s role as a fwd/ruck
He is probably a nice fellow, and an honest state league crash and bash ruck battler
But to get drafted at 28 into an elite system is bizarre
To play as a tall forward even more bizarre
Why didn’t he just come off the bench and Steele rest forward?
Better off with a good footballer in front of the ball
To think there are idiots out there who thought recruiting Ryder was a bad idea. In that case Hunter would have been our number 1 ruckman tonight! Now that would be bizarre!!!!!

Re: Paul Hunter
I feel for the guy gave it his best shot tried his arse off but not up to AFL standard but that's not his fault we recruited him . I doubt he will get a contract extension but hey he was giving it a crack just not up to it IMO

Re: Paul Hunter
Of course it didn’t work. Max King takes 8 contested marks and kicks six goals every week.

Re: Paul Hunter
Butler played his best game of the year, 20 disposals and 2 goals.
Ps I just wished he got rid of the habbit of having to kick at goal across his body when running straight at the goals.

Re: Paul Hunter
Who else was there to play as the other ruck? Not sure the kid from Sandy has the body to go against someone like Nic Nat just yet.
Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

Re: Paul Hunter
How about when Paul did get good taps to advantage it surprised everyone and we missed those opportunities. Guy can't win. Much improved effort against one of the best. When he jumped over Nic the umpire paid free on the basis that he presumed it could not have been legal; Eagles goal. See guy can't win. Getting better (fitter?).

Re: Paul Hunter
Replayed that free against Hunter on Nic Nat and still have no idea why it was a free. Nic Nat does that every week and doesn't concede a free.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Mon 26 Jul 2021 9:06am How about when Paul did get good taps to advantage it surprised everyone and we missed those opportunities. Re: Paul Hunter
Hunter was recruited Pre season so that means 18 other cubs passed on him at least 4 times.
The effort if there, its not like Brookes who jumped out of the way of his own shadow, he just isn't good enough. No ones fault and did the best he could with what he has. Any expectations beyond that if unfair
