Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
His back must be pretty crook. Still reckon he was in our best 22 this year if fit
Go you red, black & white warriors

Not really a surprise given the state of his body. Been a good player for us and we certainly missed him down back this season.

Not surprised & has been ok but never really reached the level I was expecting & injury has curtailed his career prematurely

Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
Interesting. I wonder if it was in fact his back or is the club moving on, maybe a little bit from column A and a little bit from column B.
Gee we are getting in early with list management.
I hope it means we have a good option lined up to replace him.

Same. I hoped we were recruiting a longer term KPD. He played 66 games for us.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Wed 18 Aug 2021 12:45pm Not surprised & has been ok but never really reached the level I was expecting & injury has curtailed his career prematurely

Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
I suspect you’re right
I was absolutely miffed by his omission in the second third of last season and have to the conclusion that his injury concerns have more prevalent then realised.
It’s a shame because he was a good player and a very good fit with Howard and Wilkie… calmer and a bit more agro then ppl gave him credit for
Hopefully they have someone lined up to take his spot

Are we getting in early with list decisions? Don't clubs usually wait until the final round is complete to make announcements or has this been happening for a while now?skeptic wrote: ↑Wed 18 Aug 2021 1:11pmI suspect you’re right

Bye Jake.
Did he fulfil his potential in his AFL career, i thought he was going to be so much better than he was.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
Its a shame because at his best Carlisle was brilliant, but he battled with his back injury for years.
Going to be some big changes to the list at season end - Carlisle & McKernan already gone. To be followed by quite a few more I would think.

Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
We just couldn't keep going on ad infinitum with having around a third of our list injured for up to 20 rounds every season.
Thanks for your efforts Big Jake and all the very best for your future.

Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
I think for players that are essentially being delisted/retired with no potential trade value, starting from the last round is par for the courseVortex wrote: ↑Wed 18 Aug 2021 1:26pmAre we getting in early with list decisions? Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
Body was cooked, and pretty clear the coaches didn’t have him in the best 22 for a while now.

It is a journalist saying this. Probably true though.Vortex wrote: ↑Wed 18 Aug 2021 1:26pmAre we getting in early with list decisions? Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
Was due diligence done or did the Injectors know we were trading for a busted player?
In any case, no more injury prone mercernaries, please.
Carlislse was good, though. Got no support from admin when being pilloried for sledging -- the horror!

Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
Was good when we were bad and then got hurt and it clearly is career shortening.
I think too was happier under Richo where allowed to play his way as opposed to Ratten when needed to play the team way. Remember one of the reasons he left Ess is because he didn't want to play forward

another poor investment due to injuries (and in his case, essendon's drug management).

When was Jake ever brilliant for us? I honestly can’t remember one game where he was our best player.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 18 Aug 2021 1:28pm Its a shame because at his best Carlisle was brilliant, but he battled with his back injury for years.

Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
Absolutely we are. Against the really good teams it’s a huge problem. Wilkie is a great 3rd tall not a KP back

Like Joe Daniher at Essendon. Always found reasons not to play him.

Re: Carlisle not offered new contract
How could he be in the best 22 when he has been so badly crocked?
Easily in our best 22 if fully fit - he is exactly what we are currently crying out for a big intimidating backman to take a load off Howard
