NWM on alf.com.au feed right now.
EDIT: You missed it! But it looks like they're slowly putting up the draft interviews at:
https://www.afl.com.au/video
Nothing earth shattering in the interview, however.

NGA kids are ours
Good haul. NVM the elite kick of the draft. Owens the could be anything flyer and windhager the very balanced looking mid
Given we had one pick in what, the top 50(?), that’s a pretty decent haul

Re: Welcome to the Saints - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
A nearly 4 inch taller Hill, but similar skills.
Watching him play against kids, he was very much like Hill, although against bigger bodies he seemed to be a little bit more urgent about finding some space and using his pace to find time. The kick is special, no doubt about it and he wastes no time dropping it on his foot, and looks like he likes to run his opponent around ahead of and from behind the ball.
He looks a little more courageous than Hill when you consider that he is a bolter and from 17 years of age, went from juniors to SANFL reserves to a SANFL Grand Final.

We do love our SA players - what are the odds he boards with Hill or Ryder.

I hope he boards with Hill and picks up his running ability while he is at it.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 24 Nov 2021 9:03pm We do love our SA players - what are the odds he boards with Hill or Ryder.

Re: Welcome to the Saints - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
Very polished, silky smooth outside mid. Evasive, good decision maker with a beautiful kick. Not big on winning contested ball but maybe he doesn't have to be.
Not surprised that the club chose him. Looking forward to seeing him play in the red white and black. Welcome NWM.

9cm taller than Hill and supposedly a good tackler and decent mark.
I think more like Burgoyne or Shane Edwards.

Number 7.....no pressure If he's one tenth as good as a recent number 7, I'll be over the moon (not Luke)

Looks classy - great delivery! More evasive skills than Hill. (This knowledgeable assessment based on one and half minutes of vision

The thing that makes me nervous is those few instances where he holds onto the ball an extra few seconds and gets tackled. I worry about his adjustment to the pace of the game if he needs to be faster in his decision making.
Regardless... his decision making and disposal look elite

Re: Welcome to the Saints - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
We’ve been one of the worst kicking teams in the comp in recent years.
This selection will help but looks like he will need a couple of preseasons to build up his strength and endurance.
Get the feeling that our ex-Hawthorn contingent looked at him and dreamt of Burgoyne ?

't Kilda has welcomed Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera to its ranks, snapping up the premium talent with pick No. 11 at tonight’s 2021 NAB AFL Draft.
A silky wingman with precise skills to match, the 18-year-old South Australian boasts what has widely been considered as the best kick from this year’s draft class.
Wanganeen-Milera’s father, Terry Milera, played 30 games for the Saints between 2012-2014, while his uncle is Brownlow medallist and five-time All-Australian, Gavin Wanganeen.
While the Glenelg recruit is best suited to the wing, his clean use and mobility has the potential to add to St Kilda’s half-back line.
Wanganeen-Milera will join fellow first-round selections Max King (pick No. 4, 2018), Hunter Clark (pick No. 7, 2017), Nick Coffield (pick No. 8, 2017) and Matthew Allison (pick No. 26, 2020) at RSEA Park.

“We’re really excited to welcome Nasiah to St Kilda,” Head of List Management James Gallagher said.
“Nasiah is a pure wingman with plenty of promising attributes. He has exceptional foot skills and mobility, is calm under pressure and is deceptively quick when he hits top gear.”
“We look forward to having Nasiah meet his teammates and coaches in the coming days and wish him a long and successful career in red, white and black.”
St Kilda will take picks 55, 61, 65, 66 and 81 into tomorrow night’s continuation of the 2021 NAB AFL Draft.'

Re: Welcome to the Saints - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. It's easy to say we should have drafted Bontempelli ahead of Billings....etc
Now is the time for us keyboard worriers to go on record with our views on this selection. Who should we have drafted?
I've been of the view that we should take a classy midfielder with pace and great disposal, so I guess I've forfeited my right to 2nd guess this selection in 3 or 4 years time...

Re: Welcome to the Saints - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
Glad to see he's excited our fans on this thread - that's great to see.
I'm of the contrarian view regarding who we drafted; WCE traded 12 for Port's 14 + future 2nd and I would have snapped Port's hand off had they offered 14 + future 2nd for our 11. I'm a bit staggered we didn't take it as they must have offered it to us first (for the record, I'd have taken Matthew Johnson or Ben Hobbs).
As for NWM, I see lots of positives in his game and some negatives, too. So he wasn't this high on my draft board. A bit puzzled we went for him this high.
Fingers crossed he comes on, works his absolute backside off and he becomes the new Cyril Rioli. That'd be amazing. I doubt he'll get to that level, but let's hope.
As for Owens and Windhager, I have Owens about 30 and Windhager outside the top 40 (due to his back). I think we'll get both without losing much skin considering real quality like Johnson, Sonsie, Howes, Butler, Roberts and Draper etc are still on the board and should all go before 30. There's even a wild (5-10%) chance one of those might slip to our next pick and we can get a slider plus our NGA two.
If not, I expect will take our NGA pair and say a prayer that we land Blake Schlensog, too.

His dad Terry had some tricks as well but succumbed to the go home factor; in fairness to him, his wife was quite ill - hopefully NWM hangs around for a bit longer!saynta wrote: ↑Wed 24 Nov 2021 9:43pm https://www.saints.com.au/news/1033219/ ... the-saints
