Re: Hayes and Owens debut
When was the last time we drafted a midfielder and he came in and played the first round? Was it Luke Ball or Lenny Hayes either way it has been an eternity.

Mitch is gonna be undroppable.

Think Ball had Osteitis Pubis early on before getting Traitorus Maximus later in his career.skeptic wrote: ↑Thu 17 Mar 2022 5:27pmIIRC Ball missed a season?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Thu 17 Mar 2022 5:15pm When was the last time we drafted a midfielder and he came in and played the first round? Luke Dunstan debuted round 1.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Thu 17 Mar 2022 5:15pm When was the last time we drafted a midfielder and he came in and played the first round? Was it Luke Ball or Lenny Hayes either way it has been an eternity.

Re: Hayes and Owens debut
Makes sense he was an early maturer, he just never improved. Hopefully Owens can go to higher levels than Luke?Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Thu 17 Mar 2022 6:10pmLuke Dunstan debuted round 1.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Thu 17 Mar 2022 5:15pm When was the last time we drafted a midfielder and he came in and played the first round? Re: Hayes and Owens debut
Well done to both, I think Owens will be a really good player eventually, great he debuts, hope he kills it, but won't put too much pressure on him for first few games

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Fwliw, Paddy debuted against Collingwood.
MCG, wet, was not concussed.
Have erased result from memory.
We are a much better side now, of course.

Re: Hayes and Owens debut
I normally cringe watching those reality TV type of vids but credit where credit is due, that oritation was completely believable --inspirational even.
I didn't think Ratts would pick multiple debutants but he's surprised me.
Now we get excited and hope they have blinders.

Re: Hayes and Owens debut
I must say watching Carltons midfield tonight (still without Walsh) makes me a bit envious. Kennedy, Cerra & Hewett are under rated by many.
