Re: Karl Amon
Our profile has changed. We have established a midfield group who are competitive, experienced and locked in. We have at least 4 solid midfield prospects from the draft and have some bargaining power that makes us attractive to an established recruit.
What we don't want is someone who peaked, price wise, while we weren't successful unless he is top tier.
We are no longer aimless desperadoes.
Amon is a quick half back. We have a few and more in reserve.

Re: Karl Amon
You take him as a free agent every day as long as the $ are not unreasonable
We will lose some talent off the list this year due to retirement (eg Hannebery, Geary) and it’s good to have experienced talent come in as we build up our youngsters.
Covid protocols could still be in place and randomly wipe out a group of players next year - so the more depth the better
And as we have seen in the distant past, when we become a genuine top 8 team, other teams come sniffing at our players looking for more game time and / or $. It would be naive to think we won’t lose a few in the next 2-3 years.

Re: Karl Amon
If this costs nothing in terms of draft selections, it would be an absolute no brainer.

Re: Karl Amon
I dont believe so, another wingman is not a priority. Plus I believe he would be asking bigger than average salary to move. We have numerous options to play that role. If the club were prepared to be ruthless and trade out as example Billings for a tall key position forward/defender or a ruckman then perhaps its feasible.

Re: Karl Amon
We could seriously use the depth lol.
Again, as long as it is not overs. Specifically draft picks. We will have the coin.

Re: Karl Amon
What did Jim Collins say about buses and seats?
Talent is talent, whether we need or don't another flanker, half back, winger etc.
He is a decent skilled AFL player
I think he'd be OK for us as long as we don't pay overs in $ which effects our ability to retain players.
Geary should retire and Minnie the Moocher will surely finally be shown the door, Paddy may retire so there should be $ in the kitty to pay players like Sinclair, Marshall, Gresham their worth.
If we become a genuine top 4 chance I think player like Billings become crucial as they are the type of player who can get off the leash at half forward and get it 20 times and kick 2 or 3 in a game. Amon could be very handy if we are a contender as pace and skill is at a premium come September.
If we are travelling well perhaps we could have a real crack at Goldstein for a year if Paddy retires and Xerri is locked in at North.

Bert and Ernie wants to know if he can play in Membrey’s spot after we trade him out at the end of the year?

Nova looking fit again.
I wonder how much impact Jack had on that.

Would he be better than Butler? Dan gets a regular game. Not sure if Dan has been nominated AA - no not that anonymous org. - for what that's worth.

Re: Karl Amon
3 years ago we had no speedy outside runners with great foot skills which is why we went after Hill and Jones. Ironically Hill now plays high HF, And Jones better suited to inside mid. NWM is still developing and building a tank that will allow him to run out a season, and DMac is so Kamikaze it’s unlikely he plays a full 22 games in any given season. JB now looks hammy injury prone.
There is a spot for Amon on our list.

Re: Karl Amon
The idea that we have enough midfielders of quality is flawed imo.
Yes they're performing well but we're still short a couple. NVW and Windy are being carried at the moment, which is fine as it helps them develop but against teams with deep midfields it could hurt us.
Think Melbourne, Brisbane, Dogs, Geelong etc.
Last year amon was in the AA squad of 40. I reckon he cracks our best 22 with ease. If you can improve your 22 using only cash you do it.

Re: Karl Amon
Karl Amon would be a great get for us. He is a FA so no draft picks required and he will enable Hill to play permanent forward while he gives us more running power from the wing.

Looks like he might request a trade to the Saints. There was something in this a couple of years ago.
