Re: Seb Ross
Successful teams have options shut one down others step up . Sometimes the most valuable player is the one that turns it on for a quarter other times is the one who is solid all game

Re: Seb Ross
I f****** can only hope so. Seb is a champion footballer of the Saints football club and has been for years.meher baba wrote: ↑Sat 23 Apr 2022 9:13am Seb had yet another good game last night. Is there any hope that this ridiculous discussion might cease?

Re: Seb Ross
I will say that anyone who gets onto an AFL list has got there through hard work +persistence.
But my issue w/Seb was his 32+possessions weren't usually quality, nor was he looking to give to a team-mate's advantage.
They quite often were kicks in hope, and random handballs. Ok, maybe our outside guys weren't in the clear at the time, but anyways...
This year, maybe knowing there's younger guys pressing for a spot, he actually looks for a clear target and usually nails it.
Example was right foot pass to Higgins for a goal.
He even takes on the tackler to give himself a lil bit more time to dish off, which he does well.
He's now much more of a team-first player.
His 30+ disposals used to be decaf, now he gets 20+ but they're double-shot Arabica

Re: Seb Ross
Isn’t it nice that everyone acknowledges improved form
I mean wouldn’t it be ridiculous if ppl were suggesting that there was absolutely no change in standard over 5 years. That would be weird

Re: Seb Ross
He wasn’t clearly the best. I reckon Steele was better. Seb had 22 uncontested disposals. DE for Seb was 61%. Steele went at 70%. Jack had better disposal efficiency and was therefore more effective with 1 extra effective disposal and also had more tackles and more marks.
They like to brown nose their colleague Tim Watson. They know Timmy and the Watson clan would be watching Seb and it would be amiss of them not to mention young Sebby and how good he’s been for the St Kilda Football club.

Re: Seb Ross
Disagree. I think Seb was clearly our best. Steele was good but continued to drop marks and fumble a lot tonight and also game away that 50m.Scollop wrote: ↑Sat 30 Apr 2022 11:34pmHe wasn’t clearly the best. I reckon Steele was better. Re: Seb Ross
Best? Geez no wonder we lost. He was weak and gutless when the contest was to be won - like a few others.

Re: Seb Ross
Sebs ability to get back and help the defence and how hard he ran throughout the game.
Steele played well too, thought Seb gave more run.

Get your hand off it! Plenty of players fall into that bracket tonight but not Seb.perfectionist wrote: ↑Sat 30 Apr 2022 11:43pmBest? Geez no wonder we lost. He was weak and gutless when the contest was to be won - like a few others.

Re: Seb Ross
perfectionist is right
In a match where we got done some people want to brag about how well one individual played.
No one stood up when the game was on the line

Re: Seb Ross
We lost by a point
Jack Higgins collects the ball last 20 seconds
Draw or win
Max King missing two sodas let down a few players who actually stood up
Ross, Steele and Sinclair were excellent
As highlighted by Ratten

Re: Seb Ross
Seb very clearly our best player tonight and almost dragged us across the line in the dying minutes.
Can we just put this garbage in the bin and accept Seb has been one of our top players for the past eight seasons and will still be into the future?

Re: Seb Ross
Haven’t watched the game yet but the suggestion is he was BOG.
That’s great.
Seems to me like he’s having his best season since his last B&F a couple of years ago
Would you say he performing better so far in 2022 then he has in the last 3 years?

Re: Seb Ross
Yes, he no longer blazes away without looking.
This year, he actually looks before kicking or handballing.
I've posted about this the other day.

Re: Seb Ross
Coming from a skeptic who thought his time at the Saints was up, easily our best tonight and the best game I have seen him play for a while.
He took the game on used his pace and skill to give us every chance.
Well done and hats off on a very disappointing night.

Re: Seb Ross
Playing a different role - back in the centre square
2016-2019 he was purely a ball hunting midfielder
Last year he predominantly played as a defensive Winger, year before that he was tagging
His role atm is to play on ball but back of centre - Gresham often is starting HF and pushing up.
Seb is winning a lot of his footy in the back half, Gresh in the front half
