Police report lodged for a purported St Kilda supporter threatening to shoot selectors for not playing a concussed player.

That’s one way of trying to get rid of SE with a permanent ban.

They still have internet in the watchhouse though don’t they?

Even if you are right, you don't see an issue with a player who only steps up in the seniors but seems to not get out of first gear in the two's?

Look at Billings last week at Sandy, clearly looks a class above and could probably get selected on his rep with a ok effort, but still puts in a good showing and puts his hand up as ready for the AFL with his performance rather than reputation.
I don't have all the answers but sometimes there are players who only perform when they are in the senior side. Why that is the case I don't know. I believe Sharman is that type of player!!!

I did not say Sharman should play while he is concussed.

That's just your way of attempting to derail this thread.

So he was obviously in contention

King thinks that if he looks at the goals more intently the ball will go between them.
He is yet to realise that if he watches the ball drop to his foot it works better.

Byrnes & Highmore have been in excellent form for Sandy but can't break into the senior team.
Liernert has done little wrong (IMO) in the seniors and can't hold his place.
Pretty handy position to be in.
It looks like Cooper will have to await his opportunity then grab it when it appears.
I agree it's frustrating to see a guy who slots them as easily as Sharman from set shots on the outer while King & Higgins butcher set shots from 20 mt out, but I don't believe he should replace either in the team.

The name of the game is winning, so Coops needs to kick useful bags at Sandy to push his case to oust goal kicking butchers.

He probably gets more attention at Sandy than he would in the St Kilda forward line (probably gets doubled up on), being the number one tall forward - and the delivery wouldn't be as good.

He might just be the type of player that will continue to do well in our forward line (as the third marking option) ... he might continue to provide a point of difference, in that he knows how and when to lead - and the bonus is he is a very accurate shot for goal?

This could explain why he's managed to do well in his limited senior appearances - he probably just complements our forward line, and adds another ingredient (as the third marking/leading option).

Just needs good delivery ... and we could be overthinking this?

How’s the kid been travelling for Sandy?

Would the forward line be too tall if we had him alongside King and Membrey?
The forward line is perfect now

Yep, I would have dropped Paton and Webster for Highmore and Lienert for a little more perfect backline.

Loving the pressure build up for Sharman. Geelong would be very aware of him now, so, if he does well, you would have to back him, if he draws attention from being directed at Membrey and King, even better.
I miss Hayes but it's nice to have Cooper waiting. and If he gets hold of the ball inside 50, he has gotta be a chance.

Along with Howard, Wilkie & Battle? Think you're going a bit tall and slow there. Geelong's smalls would love that backline.

Well he's in the team v Geelong
Those who have been complaining have got their way.
Effectively replacing Butler who has an achilles problem with Billings relieving W-Milera

The team AND Max have looked the best with a second tall in the forward line, our midfield also has looked better. We haven't been the same since Jack Hayes went down.

I've got to give credit to Ratts for being a gambler, bringing Sharman in against the Cats is a bold move in a crucial match. So we can't complain about the coach sitting on his hands.

So ballsy too considering we must win to convince outsiders we are a finals side and Freo beating the Cats on their patch just turns up the pressure another notch.

All the best to Sharman "Buddy" Cooper. The stage is set for you to announce yourself.

The real question is would the forward line be too tall if they had him alongside KIng, Membrey, and MARSHALL.
It means that Gresham or Billings will have to stay in the forward line to ensure at least 2 smalls.
It also means that there are 4 marking options.

If they can be persuaded to separate it will make life difficult for Geelong defenders to zone off.
But if they all want to be "the man" and cluster in the goal square it will be a disaster.
There can only be one KIng.
Tell them all the other 3 have got covid.
The others must draw their opponent away.
If the opponent refuses then the mids must punish him by using the loose forward.
NO BOMBING TO THE GOAL SQUARE.

Clearing the ball down the line needs Ryder to be the marking option on one wing but Marshall on the other.
Yes, despite many defenders thinking it is illegal, it is actually allowed to choose which side of the ground you clear to.
But then the mids must also split so that there is support on both wings for when the ball spills.
The Geelong ruck Stanley can only man one of them up.
That means kick to the other wing.
