Re: Team of the 90s
It's interesting that they have picked 2 coaches.
Should really have made the criteria be for one coach only.

Re: Team of the 90s
I know he only has a couple of years, but Joel Smith was a good footballer.
Gilbert McAdam
Frank Coghlan (I know he was at the end but v.good early 90s)
But its a good list!

Re: Team of the 90s
Both Joel Smith and Gilbert McAdam only played about 50 games, maybe Joel a few more
Darryl Wakelin was only reasonable at CHB in the 90s (better at Port) Maybe Morris was better
Matthew Young finished very high in the B&F in 98 or 99
Tony Brown a bit lucky to be in that company, as is Vidovic
Is not the side I would pick

Re: Team of the 90s
The only player there that I’d question being included is Brett Bowey.
McCadam, Rice, Morris, Coughlan clearly superior players in my opinion.
Maybe we are trying to recruit his son

We should have named Dean Anderson, Sean Ralphsmith and Russell Jeffrey.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Mon 06 Jun 2022 5:42am The only player there that I’d question being included is Brett Bowey.

Re: Team of the 90s
So 3 full backs, 2 full forwards and 2 centre half forwards in the team and 2 coaches. Probably not a well balanced team.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Team of the 90s
The tacit understanding is that we list no imports.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Mon 06 Jun 2022 7:08amWe should have named Dean Anderson, Sean Ralphsmith and Russell Jeffrey.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Mon 06 Jun 2022 5:42am The only player there that I’d question being included is Brett Bowey.

Our list at the beginning of the decade looked like this;
ANd we had cleared out the huge ex-Carlton contingent by then
Natives
Spud
Plugger
Grant
Nicky Elvis W
Kitschke
Frankie C
Brett Bowey
Loeweeee!
Russell Jeffrey
Kain Taylor
Burkey
JAck Daniels
Harvs
Ricey
Ian Dargie
Devenport
Imports
Jimmy Krakouer
Peter Russo
Paul Harding
Ricky Nixon
Ian Muller
TIm Pekin
Grant Lawrie
Only Tim Pekin qualifies as a native...Why? Cos he's from Fitzroy? I guess.. (not for Lawrie tho)

Yep, all three father sons showing some very good early signs.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Mon 06 Jun 2022 7:08amWe should have named Dean Anderson, Sean Ralphsmith and Russell Jeffrey.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Mon 06 Jun 2022 5:42am The only player there that I’d question being included is Brett Bowey.

The boy Jeffrey has freakish talent.
Anderson potential A grader for many years.
If only the F&S was still 50 games!
We probably would’ve played Bowey as a small forward then cut him when he didn’t make it

Re: Team of the 90s
I admire your effort and dedication to creating this team, something I couldn't do.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sun 05 Jun 2022 9:22pm https://www.saints.com.au/news/1141227/ ... the-decade

However, I believe this team needs Dean Rice!
