As it stands we play 11 at home and then another 6 interstate, with maybe a Geelong game in Geelong.

That leaves only 4 other games in Melbourne.

I watched all of the pitch on footy classified last night. I have no idea who Eddie is suggesting would be supporting this deal. North? Maybe, if it was either take the deal or lose AFL support. Tassie football? Again, maybe. If they were told it is this or no team at all. Other clubs? No way, why would the WA, SA and QLD teams be supportive of a plan that would hand a club more concessions, an academy, cash and no prospect of playing this well resourced team on their own home ground for the foreseeable future. When Brisbane, West Coast, Port and Freo are rolling, their home ground advantage is huge, so they would be fine with giving that up so that a struggling team can give tassie fans a fraction of what they want (a new team based full time in tassie), as well as disenchanting the existing north supporter base as well?

Eddie has a bit too much time on his hands yet somehow still seems to be overlooking basic common sense.

The South Melbourne footy club is certainly not dead. It is exactly the same club but relocated to Sydney.

Fitzroy on the other had is definitely dead. The new entity of the Brisbane Lions though was born from the Fitzroy Lions and the Brisbane Bears so at least some of the history is preserved.
