Paul Roos

Post: # 1967249Post D.B.Cooper »

Does he build winning culture or is it just media hype?

Was he instrumental in the Dees premiership by building the foundations as he did at the Swans?
There has been a lot of off field controversy at Melbourne, but on field the once basket case are now a powerhouse.

What can't be argued is success came with and followed his stints at Sydney & Melbourne.

This in my opinion is the type of guy we need to bring into the club to mentor Ratten.
He communicates well and builds player relationships but has the ability to deliver the hard message as well.
Delivering the tough message is the query on Ratten from what I have read here and elsewhere, whether true or not it seems a reasonable perception.

We are committed to Ratten so now need a strong team around him and a football mentor like Roos to help elevate him as an elite leader?

If not Roos, who else would you have in a mentoring role?

My namesake is already mentoring Ratts on the intricacies of Soccer!

St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

Perception from afar;

Roos dislikes Saints intensely;

Roos did not manufacture Gawn, Oliver and Pettracia.

I think when one is pondering something as either being true or not true but can still conclude a "reasonable perception" of the truth without the actual truth presenting itself, then I think it's safe to assume the truth is still out there somewhere.

Why would Roos dislike Saints intensely?

Saints are and have been so irrelevant since 2011 they rarely polarize any form of dislike.

Yes. I think taking the opinion of how a AFL coach performs off anyone on a supporter based forum is worthwhile. Considering none on here have played under him or been involved in coaching with him.

No chance Raul Poos would ever take up a position at St.Kilda. He has only expressed contempt for our club over the years. He’s an AFL bootlicker, too. Can’t stand him!

Speculating about why: perhaps because he is very tight with Ross Lyon and didn't like the way Ross' contract negotiations were handled or the restructure that would have been imposed on Ross if he stayed which, I think, ended up with Pelchen being given the keys to the safe.

Roos doesn’t like us

Choco doesn’t like us

Malthouse, Matthews, Barassi and Parkin are too old

Grant Thomas is too divisive and the AFL don’t like him….so

It’s settled then… Malcolm Blight it is :mrgreen:

Paul Roos has always indicated a dislike for StKilda, was notable years ago when he was “on the couch” because of his friendship with Ross ,our coach at the time he spoke nicely about the saints through gritted teeth.

:lol: I've always found the Saintsational "this guy hates us, that guy hates us very comical", guys like Dermot Brereton who has often been labelled here as "hates St Kilda" couldn't give a rats ringer about hating the Saints, quite the contrary, growing up on the Peninsula he has always had a soft spot for the Saints and was a great fan & admirer of Trevor Barker in his youth.

He now lives in Hawaii with his American wife. I think AFL is the last thing he is worried about.

He's a bit of a folk lore to be honest. What is it he actually did at Sydney and Melbourne to make him the panacea to our ailments?

I wouldn't call Paul Roos a success as David Noble's mentor, he can't really see what's going on over zoom, sitting in Hawaii.
He's trying to get US citizenship, or so i read, that's his priority focus.

Let's leave him there, find a local mentor if Ernie is not up to it.
Is that the case, i haven't heard that one.

Paul Roos not the answer but the idea is right
I would seriously look at Mark Williams hugely regarded with the players one if the best developers/motivators in the game
People will scoff (and lemmings like Saynta will roly eyes everywhere) but if you want someone to challenge (cause Brett can’t he’s too nice) bring in Ross the boss in a footy consultation role….keep the assistants on their toes..

Isn't it the coach that's needed to be kept on his toes? Cut the assistants, let's bring in some with fresh IP to challenge the players and the coach.

Will that actually work at a club like St Kilda, one would have doubt it would make any difference, going by history.
