Players who would get a game in our 2009 team
Sinclair yes
Steele yes
Wilkie yes
Howard maybe
Marshall maybe
I still think it's a middle of the ladder list and not a bottom four list as some suggest.
As I've stated previously, our recruiting team have to get things right in the next 18 months.

Marshall would need to find some form to play in those teams.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

King would do great in that quality team

Re: Players who would get a game in our 2009 team
We are about 10 to 12 players short of being able to bridge the gap between middle of the ladder and top 4.
Our midfield needs gutting.
Gresham is massively overrated.
Our Captain is a slow plodder who tackles lots.
We literally have no midfield.

The young fella is over-rated and needs a run in the VFL.

Re: Players who would get a game in our 2009 team
Kingy wouldn't get a game in the 2009 team, not a chance in hell.
He's turning out to be the biggest spud we have. Can't build a team around a spud. Roo must be embarrassed to see the No 12 being worn by a spud.
His attitude is a disgrace and he has no place on an elite sporting ground.
Massive issues at the club and it revolves around a few players attitudes that is negatyively impacting the team like cancer and it neds to be cut out.
I didn't think I'd be thinking this in 2022 butI think we need to go into rebuild mode again. We are at least 12 players short of moving up the ladder.

Calling a 21 yo kid who currently leads the afl in contested marks a spud is just so f****** moronic. Take a hard long look at yourself you f****** dipshitVortex wrote: ↑Sat 16 Jul 2022 7:56am Kingy wouldn't get a game in the 2009 team, not a chance in hell.

Re: Players who would get a game in our 2009 team
Look how well he does being the number 1 target for a terrible midfield with a non existent gamelan.
Now imagine how he’d go in a forward line next too Roo getting delivery from Hayes, Dal, Goddard, Ball, Joey etc.
Would be a 50+ goal forward without breaking a sweat.

Would Ryder?
Is Howard better than Dawson?
Steele, Sinclair, Marshall, one of (Ross, Crouch)
Maybe Gresham
Maybe Membrey
Outs
Clark, Eddy, McQualter, Kosi, Either Ball or Ray, Dempster

King would have been awesome in that team IMO & probably would be in a lot of teams with good disposal & a decent structure/game plan .

Re: Players who would get a game in our 2009 team
What has his age got to do with anything. A 21 year old shouldn't have to be taught to chase your opponent if you lose a contest, a 21 year old shouldn't just let his opponent gallop away from a contest you just lost but are sooking it up too much to chase and stop your opponent from running the ball out of our forward line at ease. I thought when they nicknamed him Winx it was because he could run fast but I have never seen him move quicker than a trotting donkey. And he has the agility and movement of a giraffe on ice. Again a 21 year old that is called Winx should be able to execute basic running and chasing at speed but I never see it. All I see is a sook who refuses to chase when things don't go his way.BringBackMadDog wrote: ↑Sat 16 Jul 2022 4:49pmCalling a 21 yo kid who currently leads the afl in contested marks a spud is just so f****** moronic. He comes across as a Mummies boy that looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane. His attitude is infectious.

Re: Players who would get a game in our 2009 team
I wouldn't put King in the same company as the guys you mention. He is talented but doesn't work hard enough, is not a hard leading forward, so it wouldn't matter how good delivery was, but there seems to be a lot of excuses for him, when he should really be owning the space in which he plays. He has to make the choice.The_Dud wrote: ↑Sat 16 Jul 2022 5:21pmLook how well he does being the number 1 target for a terrible midfield with a non existent gamelan.

That's bang on, absolutely there are a lot of excuses getting made for King, he is the Messiah in number 12 and don't dare criticise him in case he gets sooky.
For the life of me I don't know how he got the nickname Winx, you never see him run, he gallops along like a giraffe. And he certainly doesn't run when an opponent is running away from him with the ball.

I’m not putting him in their company, I’m saying if he was playing in that team (subject of this thread) he would be averaging 3 goals a game easy.spert wrote: ↑Sun 17 Jul 2022 8:59amI wouldn't put King in the same company as the guys you mention. He was running and chasing and making second efforts on Friday night, one of the only guys that was, and I can imagine repeatedly getting smashed by 2-3 guys in every marking contest takes a bit out of you.
