NWM Homesick!
This rumour has been doing the rounds on here as of late.
Personally I would hate to lose the kid and am sure most feel the same way.
Anyone able to shed any light on whether this is true?

Re: NWM Homesick!
Always a risk recruiting an interstate youngster especially an indigenous boy. Shame because he looks like a player of the future but if we do lose him hopefully it is a valuable lesson for our recruiting staff.

Re: NWM Homesick!
Too bad if it's remotely true.
Draftees are on a 2 year contract so he's got 2023 to get used to Moorabbin.
Maybe the club took him out to Seaford and he likes that training facility better.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: NWM Homesick!
Pretty easy rumour to circulate considering the exact same thing happen with TM.
I'm from Adelaide. It's great but not that great.
Jeez there's a lot of depressing posts on SS right now!

Re: NWM Homesick!
Can we find him a girlfriend over here? Or boyfriend as the case may be. Or perhaps he’s missing them and we bring them over.
Don’t know how true the rumour is, but I’d be surprised if a 19-year-old wasn’t homesick to a degree. He’s got the makings of a really good player and if he does want to go we need at least a first-round pick. That’s what he cost us.

Would you straight-swap him for former Sandringham u18 player Josh Sinn from Port?

Re: NWM Homesick!
Is he a midfielder? Don’t know much about him. Fill us in.
Prefer not to unless it’s unavoidable as I do think NWM is going to be very good. But perhaps Sinn is as well.

Re: NWM Homesick!
I would. NWM definitely has ability but I'm not convinced that he's going to end up being a gun. Super outside, not a big accumulator and at this stage he seems to turn the footy over more often than not.

Re: NWM Homesick!
Someone should remind him that if goes back home that he will have to start doing home work again and his use of the XBOX will be closely monitored.
Not "Simon Templar". He was here first. Please change my username to Bumstead and if possible make me one of those very large sandwiches, thanks!

Re: NWM Homesick!
I have heard this from a source close to the club - however - I agree a first year struggling with the rigours of AFL footy could easily feel homesick - given another pre-season and this may change.
I don't think it is because St Kilda is a basket case - I would think that looking at our playing list we are 'primed' - we have some very exciting young talent - and some growing stars - and of course some retiring warriors - so look for us to be active in the trade season (if FA can see the benefit and we don't just superannuation players for the sake of the salary cap)

Re: NWM Homesick!
NWM couldn't complain that he hasn't had a fair crack.
Another preseason pit on some lean body mass and he'll be a regular.
The selectors have been very good at getting games into our three new recruits.

Re: NWM Homesick!
What I can confirm without any doubt or reservation is; it's a rumour.
The other rumour is he desperately wants out and doesn't care where he goes as long as its a big club like Essendon or Collingwood and he doesn't have to be at the same club as Rath.

Re: NWM Homesick!
really ?
IF true ok Rozee for NWM if true, otherwise have a chat with other AFL players and how they have adapted.

Re: NWM Homesick!
I was at a club function for 40+ year members yesterday.
Ratts spoke very positively about NWM saying he would be a very good player.
Spoke as there wasn’t any doubts about him staying, and how he would compliment the team.
There could be some truth in the homesickness, but a period home before pre season might be all it needs.

Re: NWM Homesick!
As has been said - homesick does not necessarily mean that he is seeking a trade - may be homesick due to being asked to do the hard yards etc - and a good preseason may helplongtimesaint wrote: ↑Fri 12 Aug 2022 12:05pm I was at a club function for 40+ year members yesterday.

As for looking to home for a better club - Nasiah/Marcus/Mitch make a pretty good team that if they grow together will secure a pretty formidable team in the future
