That Ratts would be replaced by Ross?
There is a poster on here who could answer this question
But I doubt he will betray the trust.
He was as shocked as all of us on the Ratten dismissal.
Do you have a source on this… (not suggesting you say who, am just interested in if this is opinion driven or not). Personally, I’d have thought he had an an inkling.
He knew there was a review of all aspects of the Club being undertaken at the time. That is a certainty. I can't speak for him but I reckon Lenny would be quite chuffed at the thought of fronting up to his new job to find Ross and Banger waiting for him.

There's only one rule in the jungle! When the LYON's hungry, he eats!
Can't believe Lenny would have accepted the post early and chummed around with Ratts fully aware he was going to be replaced. Would have said, "OK, I'll come after you've sorted all that out."

which is not to say
that the 'disconnect' (for want of a better word)
the former players were experiencing
was unknown to him
dal would have been been the connecter
with inside current time experience of club life
kimba the white lion time
it was probably not
***
on another issue that shi1ts me
is this story line that ... ratts didn't get a fair munch of the cucumber sandwich before dismissal
i mean , really !!
he presented to the Board for 7 hours
thats a good effort from Ratts right there
but
7 hours !!
he knew his arse was on the line
and the Club gave him 7 hours
there would have been some serious straight talking
in that room
7 hours
Ratts had all on his side at 8-3
he had his extension
(as he desired)
3-8
then led to 7 fkin hours in the hot seat
treated poorly
i think not
treated respectfully , yes.
+ i think the actions of the Bored
meet their words
with congruency
Respectfully good sir, I acknowledge your point RE the opportunity granted Brett to (as reported) plead his case to retain his job.
I think the sentiment of Brett being harshly treated relates to his mid year contract extension then head on the chopping block three months later, which would have blind sided Ratten and is very ‘St Kilda’.
Based on pure performance one could argue retention, when adding upside and potential to attract players, perform more consistently and bring a harder edge to the club you’d think Ratts would pale to insignificance in comparison with Lyon.
There's only one rule in the jungle! When the LYON's hungry, he eats!
Some of his players being closer to peak fitness when it mattered over the last 3 years would have seen us win more games and possibly more finals
Being a bit less concrete in his thinking as far as his structure/game plan may have done it… yes it’s Ratten’s prerogative to dig into a 3-4 small forward structure and persevere with it if he believes it’s best… but you live and die by the results.
There’s pbly other things one could point out too but here’s the point…
RL was seen as an upgrade to Ratts… true or not, RL has perception of of being valuable/indispensable. Ratts image is not particularly strong and that’s in part, a strong part, based on his performance.
They wouldn’t have sacked him if they believed in him
The performance the last 3 years have been very ‘flakey’.
Even when we did make finals in 2020, we were beneficiaries of shorter quarters and having the Noosa facilities all to ourselves.
Looking at the big picture, we were terribly inconsistent, hovering around percentage of under 100..not good enough!
Regarding Lenny, he hasn’t been around RSEA park, as he is trying to sell their farm.
His contact would be mostly phone and zoom meetings.
I can tell you one thing, although he doesn’t officially start until November 1, he has been working ever since his appointment.

So everything positive and all our success under Ratts, is something that was due to ‘outside’ influences but everything negative is all his fault! Fair enough. That’s one way of justifying his sacking
Oh,…btw. Our percentage in 2020 was 116.2 (it wasn’t hovering around 100)

I think there is two reasons as to why Lenny came back.
One - He hates seeing his old club as a nobody and wants to help us move out of that.
Two - Money... its a nicely paid job doing something he loves for a team loves.
Neither of them rely on who is the coach.

i find it hard to believe lenny wasn't told there's a chance (a likelihood in fact) that ratten will not survive the review, and guess who we've sounded out.
"The starting point of all achievement is desire. "
Apparently around some sports management circles, it was known that RL was always available for the right price at the right time on his terms only. Maybe Lenny had a sniff that big changes were happening though.

Apparently ...(according to the spin doctor travelling snake oil marketing team and disciples of the cult leader) Ross took the job because he loves us...
