Matt Allison "significant" foot injury
Matt Allison has sustained a foot injury this week and will undergo surgery on a navicular fracture.
Rehab timeframe around 20 weeks. Had a good pre-season to date and was one of the chances to fill a gap up forward following injuries to King and Hayes.

Re: Matt Allison "significant" foot injury
"Fringe St Kilda forward Matt Allison will undergo surgery on a foot fracture that will keep the 20-year-old out of action for approximately 16-20 weeks, in what is another blow to Ross Lyon's key forward stocks ahead of the club's 150th campaign."

Re: Matt Allison "significant" foot injury
Well that wipes out his 2023 season. He is contracted to 2024, so he will probably only have 2024 to make it now.
With Max and Hayes injured it may have gotten a good crack at it as this season's start.

Re: Matt Allison "significant" foot injury
Its tough news...dont want any Saint injured ever.
I hope this gives us a look at RTB's skills at kerfuffling defenders with our new no forward offense.

Re: Matt Allison "significant" foot injury
I don't think we have boot studders any more, so no fault there.
Wonder what brand of boots the guys are required to wear and the type of knots being taught at the academy.
Giving the club socks a benefit of the doubt.
Note Matt seems to have been having a lot more kicks this year, might be just the stress on his #11s getting with leather more.
Or the extra running he has been doing?

Interesting that you say that because at training today Sharman took a mark and landed awkwardly and was on the ground clutching his knee, he was attended to and
then continued on, not sure what happened after he cooled down.
Saints looking like a bottom 4 team in 2024.

Unfortunate timing for Allison and the club. Matt is out of contract at seasons end, I wonder if he has improved enough to warrant an extension?

I've read some reports that have said Allison is signed until the end of 2024, so i'm not sure if you're right or they are ?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Fri 27 Jan 2023 9:29pm Unfortunate timing for Allison and the club. He has definitely improved, he might have become a good VFL player if he hadn't sustained his current injury.

Re: Matt Allison "significant" foot injury
I think they extended him by a year which was surprising at the timebobmurray wrote: ↑Fri 27 Jan 2023 9:35pmI've read some reports that have said Allison is signed until the end of 2024, so i'm not sure if you're right or they are ?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Fri 27 Jan 2023 9:29pm Unfortunate timing for Allison and the club. Just heard from a reputable source that we have extended Matt Allison’s contract a further 2 years so he will be with us until the end of 2024. Bit premature for a young bloke who hasn’t played a game yet? They must see good things in him

Re: Matt Allison "significant" foot injury
Yes saw that he really got up high after some time he was ok just a bit sore.
did notice that Eire was doing ok with a few big marks in the forward line.
Battle tried to bump van es hard and he just bounced off gee the kid is tough he was playing forward didn't do much but moved well.
did find cordy moving really well compared to December when he was very slow.
Heath well did a few good things but got monstered by marshal at times
Owens is a beast up forward he was marking well and was to quick on the ground for battle.
