Fingers crossed he's one of those extremely rare finds in footy world and can come in take the game by storm from game 1, it's the type of luck you need to move up the ladder, and it's the type of luck we need because of our desperate need for quality tall forwards.

Good if true. afl.com article said he was offered a contract on Friday with the paperwork to be completed on Monday.

Josh Eyre's injury could be a sliding door moment
If Eyre doesn't get injured then likely no Caminiti who goes on to have a stellar career with another club

You got your wish! It's just been announced.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Fri 10 Feb 2023 3:18pm I was seriously impressed by ‘the kid’ today..not just his pack marking but his tenacity at ground level.
Heard a whisper Carlton are keen on him so no time to procrastinate.
Other notable observations:
* Higgins was very lively and his field kicking excellent
* Sharman continues to impress with his improved endurance and bigger physique
* Webster very creative with handball
* best I’ve seen Zac Jones look in a good while..looks stronger and did use the ball better by foot..helps when he goes with his first instinct
* Owens took a spectacular mark..he’s definitely one to watch this season, his work rate is enormous…was pinch hitting ruck to Marshall
* best I’ve seen big ‘Moose’ train..really cracked in and was competitive against big Ro.
* field kicking still a concern..too many missed targets
* Membrey terrific after being absent for a couple of weeks but did go off after landing awkwardly in a marking contest.
* Coffield has ramped up his training but wearing the Fluro cap (no contact).
* Phillipou didn’t train but I’m told he’ll play in the intra club next Friday morning..had a bit of calf tightness!

The Saints’ AFL list for 2023 is set, with the club today signing young forward Anthony Caminiti via the Supplemental Selection Period (SSP).
Caminiti, recruited from Carlton’s VFL program, has impressed since joining the club just one week ago, making himself impossible to look past during training.

“We’re really pleased to give Anthony this opportunity to join the Saints,” Acting General Manager of Football David Misson said.
“Anthony made an immediate impact since joining our group and has proven he’s worth this spot despite the small timeframe.
“We look forward to watching him continue to grow and progress throughout the rest of the pre-season and into the season proper.”
19-year-old Caminiti, who over the summer had been working two hospitality jobs while preparing to start an engineering degree at Melbourne University, said he was thrilled at the chance to play at the highest level.
“I’m so excited and grateful for this opportunity,” Caminiti said.
It’s been a long road to get here, but now that I have this chance, I’m going to do everything in my power to prove this was the right decision.

“I’m looking forward to spending more time with my teammates and coaches and can’t wait to really embrace my time here at RSEA Park.”
Caminiti’s signing comes just two days before the SSP deadline of 15 February.

Amazing how a kid like that slips through two drafts and is one of the last taken as a SSP, hopefully he becomes our best player ever to come off a rookie list. He has a few to improve on namely Milne, Sinclair and Marshall at the Saints.

Watching Caminiti closely today, he has an issue with set shot goal kicking.
His kicking action’s a bit clunky & ball drop isn’t great, similar to Higgins.
He seems more smooth kicking on the run.

Maybe thats why he was overlooked early on. You would hope someone at the club can get a hold of him and work to improve it.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Mon 13 Feb 2023 5:07pm Watching Caminiti closely today, he has an issue with set shot goal kicking.

Re: Message to SOS…sign Caminiti up NOW!
Just goes to show how we poor, miserable, desperate, success-deprived Saints supporters will hail as an answer to our prayers the recruitment of a player that no-one has ever heard of.....
Guess time will tell if Caminiti is going to make the grade, great if he does.

One of his former coaches was interviewed on SEN this morning. Alluded to the fact that they had to have several serious chats with him mainly around his training standards. Also suggested he can have brilliant patches in games but not consistent. That is probably why he wasn’t drafted. Felt he was mature enough to knuckle and that an AFL environment will suit him.

I think you were slightly over exaggerating in relation to Saints supporters.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Tue 14 Feb 2023 12:10pm Just goes to show how we poor, miserable, desperate, success-deprived Saints supporters will hail as an answer to our prayers the recruitment of a player that no-one has ever heard of.....

The glass is either half empty or half full and you pretty much filled us in on your attitude to quantity.
Maybe a little disappointing but not surprising.
I plan to focus on the last four words of your op and leave it at that.

Re: Message to SOS…sign Caminiti up NOW!
The SEN radio interview is a great insight for those wishing to know a bit more about the kid. Leigh Clarke suggested that he was an elite junior high jumper and sprinter who later grew to a 196cms and now has long arms and huge hands. With his awkward kicking style he sounds like big Stewie all over again.
