Not good news but opportunity opens up for Byrnes, Clark, Paton and probably Sharman. Will settle a lot of speculation, maybe. Be interesting who plays the other half back spot.

Bytel, not Byrnes and Caminiti not Sharman. Clark is a given, but not sure about Paton.
The news about Coffield is sad for him personally, but we can cover for him (as we did all through 2022). I reckon we can cover for Ross as well, and hopefully he isn't too far away.
It's a shame Membrey isn't going to be ready for Round 1, but I had never really believed it anyway after such recent knee surgery. Hopefully he's only a couple of week away as well, but you never really know with knees.
Windhager remains still the most important guy to get back for Sunday night, if at all possible. We went ok against the Bombers without the others, but I reckon he would make quite a difference against Freo.
I'm still looking forward to Sunday night: let's leave the weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth and hair pulling until after the game. I'm predicting that we'll still be in it at 3/4 time, but that they'll probably run over us by a few goals at the end. That would be an excellent performance, given how many players we have out.

Faqk. 14 players on the injury list and we haven't fired a shot in anger
Has to be the surface at Moorabbin. Too hard and no give I reckon.
Absolute joke.
Worst preseason we have had injury wise since 2001. It should fast track some of our young players, like Bytel, and guys we have brought in like Stocker, Caminiti, and Sharman.

Simply put questions must be asked
Effectively 1/3 of our squad is injured before a ball is bounced
So yes is it the ground, are there training shoes giving the right type of support (this could apply to calf injuries). Are coaches trying to changes their running styles (eg too much up on the toes)
Whatever the causes, as others have said it is very hard to see us starting the season any better than 3-8 (happy to be wrong)

I think.a year of low expectations and unexpected surprises is in order.
Give the kids a development year.
Give Mackenzie Billings Coffield Jones and Ross, time and reserves matches.
Give Windhager, NVM, Phillipou, Owens, Van Es Caminiti and Adams game time in different positions and use Heath in the ruck, forward bench rotations. We have nothing to lose.
Mackenzie Billings Jones and Coffield should all be 200 game player who are injury prone.

Members 4 to 5 weeks away I believe. Pretty sad start to what was heading to be a fairly promising season.
I wonder if our preseason has been thought about as a platform for 2024 and beyond
I.e. we're prepared to accept a higher injury count this year (obviously trying to avoid it regardless) but with the view to having a great baseline of fitness for future campaigns when we anticipate contending.
Disclaimer: posts are my views and shouldn't be taken as fact, even if I am in fact right.
I have just seen the updated injury list - as a member I would like the club to come out and explain how in the hell we can possibly have 5 plays listed as indefinite already?!?!
Why have players been sent off to have surgery in late summer who are now listed as TBC, and 5 more players listed as somewhere between 6-12 weeks away?!?
We didn't play finals so these guys should be fit and firing for round 1, not on the exercise bike in the gym.
Not happy at all!
Imagine what will happen when we have played a few games and natural attrition creeps in. We could be uncompetitive.
It must be either the surface of the ground, or training loads not being managed you would think. What else could it be put down to?
