Re: Billings
Make that Billings, Gresham, Clark and Coffield.
I note Coffield is anticipated to join in full training, but no game time minutes because of a bye.

Re: Billings
Billings is doing his very best to preserve himself so he's cherry ripe for when he lines up with Essendon next season.

Re: Billings
That's interesting, he agreed to be traded for a 3rd rounder, or are you suggesting they guaranteed a better pick to get him? Wipe your chin.

It all makes sense now.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jul 2023 9:07pmThat's interesting, he agreed to be traded for a 3rd rounder, or are you suggesting they guaranteed a better pick to get him? Wipe your chin.
He broke his leg in the preseason and started to regret his 2025 contract, so he rang Essendon and said you didn't want me 2 years ago but how am I looking now.
They said, please don't play against us and we will take you and give a second round for you. Like, just fake a few injuries and that and we will get you on.
He went yeah sure and here we are.

I'm not a fan of porcelain doll footballers, so you may get some excitement from me but if Essendon, Dildoro to be specific wants to part with a second, I'll be grateful.Vortex wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 8:17amBookmark it and prepare your apology for trade time.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jul 2023 9:07pmThat's interesting, he agreed to be traded for a 3rd rounder, or are you suggesting they guaranteed a better pick to get him? Re: Billings
I would have thought that the only possible trade for Billings would be one in which we get more or less nothing back and also have to pay out some of his remaining contract.
Billings has given the impression over the years that he isn't that impressed with the way the club has treated him. There might even be some truth in this at times. However, his principal problem over the last couple of years has been getting himself fit enough to play. When he has been fit, he has played ok and would have retained his spot if he hadn't gotten injured again.
Why would any club be keen to take on that level of risk on other than with him as a freebie project player?
I'm saying this as someone who rates Billings more highly than most posters on here. He's got a lot to offer our team. But, as someone (I think it might have been Woody Allen) once said "Success is 90 per cent about showing up."

Has it got to the point where Ross will just be happy to free up a spot on the list and take whatever he he is given?CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 8:35amI'm not a fan of porcelain doll footballers, so you may get some excitement from me but if Essendon, Dildoro to be specific wants to part with a second, I'll be grateful.Vortex wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 8:17amBookmark it and prepare your apology for trade time.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jul 2023 9:07pmThat's interesting, he agreed to be traded for a 3rd rounder, or are you suggesting they guaranteed a better pick to get him? A bit like the bloke that takes a clapped out commodore into a car yard to trade and says it’s yours for a 6 pack.

I'm certain that Billings has value and he negotiated a reasonable extension deal post COVID for 4 years.meher baba wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 10:01am I would have thought that the only possible trade for Billings would be one in which we get more or less nothing back and also have to pay out some of his remaining contract.

I don't remember any real threat of losing him because he was well payed by way of a war chest bounty but was in good form in 21 and resigned in September taking himself off the market.
Since then he has been injured or played injured. He hasn't played more than 5 games in a row in since June 21 and its not impossible but not likely he will this year. I dont believe we owe that much to Billings at all. I reckon he was front loaded in 21.
He is hard to rely on as a main driver in any system other than the trading system. If he is unhappy let him sit it out and take his chances of landing at a better team in 2 years. Smells of Luke Dunstan to me but we own his contract and I don't think we will be giving him away.

Re: Billings
Another injury makes it interesting as potentially his contract value drops, and the possibility now exists to keep him on lower than would have otherwise had to pay due to injuries over the past years, as trade value also droped.
My gut is RL has a line through him, but a good last 4 weeks who knows. May get him on a lower 2 year deal with incentives which will help cap situation?
