He is a legitimate absolute gun.
Incredibly accurate, hard running, brilliant balance and composure, judges the ball in flight brilliantly and is brave in the contest.
One of the best StKilda selections ever.
Originally rookies to keep Billings company....now look at him

Re: Jack Sinclair No 1 Player
Champion Data’s new ratings system works by analysing how far above or below expectation players have performed per 100 minutes
Maybe Champion Data need to to raise their expectations
We see him each week. We expect a certain ‘level’ from him. The same with the coaches. They’ve given votes in the Coaches Association Award to several other Saints players during some weeks throughout the year without giving Sinclair votes at all. Maybe he played very well and maybe he was amongst the highest possession winners, but that is what you expect from your best players
Q. How many times has he been voted best on ground by the forum as per the Eastern Player of the year award?
A. 6 times. That’s 6 out of a possible 19 games. Next best would be Wilkie where the panel has given him bog 3 times.
He’s also failed to score enough votes in the Eastern Player of the year award to be in the top five a few times (3 games - 0 votes).

I think you are wrong about Champion Data's expectations. He has been listed as elite by them for many seasons and at one time (around 2017-18) was the only St Kilda player listed as elite when most on here had written him off.Scollop wrote: ↑Wed 02 Aug 2023 10:53pm Champion Data’s new ratings system works by analysing how far above or below expectation players have performed per 100 minutes

He has been rated in the top 5 players 13 out of a possible 19 games in the Player of the Year award on this forum picking up quite a few votes in the other 6 matches from people casting votes.
He is comfortably leading the Coaches Award and all media awards for our club. I don't quite see your point in undervaluing his performances.

Re: Jack Sinclair No 1 Player
StPeter,
I don't think Sincs should be number 1 player ahead of some of the names on that list. Yes he's had another terrific year, but surely we can appreciate the work of other players (regardless of what colour jumper they're wearing).
Did you watch The Bont last night?
As far as Saints fans who had 'written Sincs off' years ago. I wasn't one of them.

Re: Jack Sinclair No 1 Player
I concede there are players I rate a little ahead of him but I have found it frustrating how over the years he was ignored by the media until quite recently,Scollop wrote: ↑Sat 05 Aug 2023 9:12am StPeter,

written-off by many Saints fans. For a long time Champion Data and myself seemed to be the only ones in his corner.
Even the selectors have under-rated him at times.
In 2020, Ratts first full year coaching, he wasn't selected for a full game until mid-season with all the imports coming into the club, although he had played all games the previous year.
He then proceeded to star in virtually every match.

When they say against expectations.
They refer to the average performance of someone playing the same role/position not their own benchmark.
It is their way of making sure it isn't another midfielder biased rating system/award.

Re: Jack Sinclair No 1 Player
That makes a lot more sense than what others are saying. How do you measure an individual player's expectation???nostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Sat 05 Aug 2023 2:04pm When they say against expectations.

Also to add this rating system is heavily criticised on Twitter. currently massively weighted to loose half backs as theyre expectation levels are far lower than mids despite the majority of them (sincs, houston, daicos et al) play a lot of time through the centre.StPeter wrote: ↑Sat 05 Aug 2023 4:35pmThat makes a lot more sense than what others are saying. Re: Jack Sinclair No 1 Player
Of course fans from other clubs would be critical, with their own individual favourite not being as high up as expected.Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Sat 05 Aug 2023 4:42pmAlso to add this rating system is heavily criticised on Twitter. currently massively weighted to loose half backs as theyre expectation levels are far lower than mids despite the majority of them (sincs, houston, daicos et al) play a lot of time through the centre.StPeter wrote: ↑Sat 05 Aug 2023 4:35pmThat makes a lot more sense than what others are saying. I just would have thought Saints fans would be glad to take it on board like Joey did on AFL 360 earlier this year when he commented on Champion Data comparing Sinclair's stats and rating favourably with those of Nick Daicos.
