Re: 5 day break
What an absolute gift to Collingwood in round two. It's just outrageous fixturing. We get a 5 day break while Collingwood get a 12 day break. We all know how sore teams are after round one so it'll be near impossible to run our that round two game the way Collingwood will.

Not an issue with the appropriate plan and preseason in place.cwrcyn wrote: ↑Thu 16 Nov 2023 5:26pm What an absolute gift to Collingwood in round two. It's just outrageous fixturing. This year we were saying the same thing about a 6 day break, trip back from WA and our injury list.

Did Norf get 23 games against itself?

Jeez!
Except they have a 12 day break?
I know I am being a sook, but let’s not pretend it isn’t a disadvantage.

Weak as piss whining!
Only matters if you are not good enough.
Teams that win finals have an any place anywhere attitude.

It’s possible to have an ‘anywhere anytime attitude’ and get your butts spanked.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Thu 16 Nov 2023 10:32pm Weak as piss whining!

And it’s possible to ‘somehow-pull-it-out-off’ when all is lost.
That sounds like a platitude worth a hot dog
But for a fan it is good enough, isn’t it?
St Kilda will be given crappy fixtures. It is a given. We have to somehow disrupt that.
North Melbourne have been given an apology for being treated like S for thirty years and for having their coach go through the mill. We haven’t got that ..we are potentially the Southern Saints, I mean very Southern, as in Bass Strait southern, at the flick of a switch. We are on welfare and that comes with a little price.

March 9th - Giants (A)
March 15th - Swans (H)
March 21st - Saints (H)
We play:
March 16th - Geelong (A)
March 21st - Collingwood (A)
How is that a 12 day break versus our 5 day break??
Seriously we want Marquee games then complain when we get Thursday night games.

Unless every game is 2.10 Saturday arvo at Marvel Stadium against a bottom 8 side, there will be complaints!Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Fri 17 Nov 2023 8:18amCollingwood will have played:cwrcyn wrote: ↑Thu 16 Nov 2023 5:26pm What an absolute gift to Collingwood in round two. Re: 5 day break
Forget that Saints requested the Thursday night fixture against Collingwood, and that that game gives us a two day extra break against our following opponent….IT’S AN AFL CONSPIRACY, they are out to shaft us.The_Dud wrote: ↑Fri 17 Nov 2023 9:22amUnless every game is 2.10 Saturday arvo at Marvel Stadium against a bottom 8 side, there will be complaints!Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Fri 17 Nov 2023 8:18amCollingwood will have played:cwrcyn wrote: ↑Thu 16 Nov 2023 5:26pm What an absolute gift to Collingwood in round two. Next it will be those cheating umpires, how dare they shaft us with the best for / against free kick ratio in the AFL, you know it’s about where they give them and the ones they miss that really count.

Re: 5 day break
Quite true that St Kilda faces a very tough two opening games, Geelong at the Cattery followed 5 days later with a game at the G against the reigning premiers, and a likely (on paper) 0-2 start to the 2024 season.
It will be an early reality check for the team but it's hardly a foregone conclusion and if they do alright then that'll give the team a considerable boost.
In the event of losses in one or both it won't be the end if the world, unless they're slaughtered, which I very much doubt will eventuate with the ultra 'fortress defence' policy under RTB!

Re: 5 day break
I think it's 0-2 and I hope injuries are light, in spirit and in body.
I don't wanna bet anyone we win 11 games, it was a silly post. I was angry. Angry at the fixture. I mean how could that happen. These things are negotiated. But as I say, we are a welfare team so beggars can't be choosers. it still sucks big time.
