Draft proposal
Probably a good thing we didn’t do it
The Giants looked at all options but had decided they wanted to prioritise drafting small forward Phoenix Gothard. They proposed a trade with the Saints, which would have seen the Giants give up pick 16 and a future second-round pick to take the Saints' pick 13.
We would have slid from 17->20 actual selections
Probably missed Wilson and got De Mattia + 2nd Rnd next year (tied to GWS)
Instead we traded down 1 spot (17-18) and got Wilson + 2nd Rnd next year (tied to Sydney)

Re: Draft proposal
Apparently it's the actual players chosen that win games not the draft pick monopoly money round about games.

Re: Draft proposal
Having draft capital helps. Can't pick any players if you don't have any draft picks. That deal with GWS effectively meant we got Liam Henry for nothing. Damn good outcome, I'd say.

Re: Draft proposal
We’ve effectively got Liam Henry for free.
Gave up Coffield for Paddy Dow and Garcia.
Collard for Gresham.
Billings was then used in a favour with our 2023 pick 40 to get up to Hastie.
Held on for dear life as our last pick just jumped and jumped with each club passing and got a pearler in Schoenmaker.
Got the Irish bloke on team after a few clubs went over to have him sign on.
Locked away our stars in Sinclair and Cal Wilkie and put a rocket up the arses of Liam Stocker, Jimmy Webster, Ryan Byrnes and Zak Jones by signing them to 1 year deals.
Bloody brilliant trading and list managing. Full suite of picks for next year to begin to work with too. SOS and the team have done a great job this year.
I feel next year we are going to land a big fish in one of:
1. Liam Duggan
2. Cam Zurhaar
3. Ben King
4. Ben Ainsworth
5. Sean Darcy
6. Hugh Mucclage

Re: Draft proposal
Out of the 2024 free agents, we could target:
Hugh McCluggage to bulster our midfield
Liam Duggan if we truely believe he can have an impact in the middle not just off half back
Todd Marshall to support King up forward
And if we loose Battle we should target Lewis Melican
These players will only cost cap space, which we should have plenty of. Then target the draft again.

Re: Draft proposal
Liam Duggan along with Oscar Adams has just been made co captain at the Eagles. He’s probably not what we need anyway.

Re: Draft proposal
Yeah we certainly don't need Oscar Adams. But we'll done on being made captain of West Coast. Nice work. Hehehe

Oscar Adams is a very good player. I’d love him to come to the Saints.

Oscar Adams just left the Saints. You'd prefer Oscar Allen.
