One thing you NEVER do after a loss
Is say we lost because we had players out!!!

What's last week got to do with it. This week we played dumb unskilled footy we had plenty of chances and keystone coppered them.

Says who?
It’s relevant.
Best forward out and key to our forward half.

Yeah amazing you’ll do that without key personnel.

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
How long did the footy spend in their forward line in that last quarter?
Bonner was horrible. You can't hide him ANYWHERE on the ground. Not sure why NWM wasn't used more today? He had 95% tog.
We had a chance to pinch it, but our youngsters made crucial errors. Pou and Wilson will learn from that. As will others.
Steele, Sebby and Hill were very good but overall not enough contributors today.

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
Stocker gave away a stupid free kick. He was way too obvious about blocking Stringer not that they always pay those. Very dumb for an experienced player.

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
wtf was Bonner kicking out
He was just doing a Dougal Howard
And was too soft to take a slightly tough pass and took the soft option of a dump down the line
If he can’t pull the trigger - what’s his value

Didn’t watch the match but blows my mind that NWM wasn’t doing this…
He’s elite at it

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
Sinclair got a fair bit of footy but he wasn't his usual damaging self. Too many turnovers
Played as a mid st times and didn't impact imo. Only 6 contested possessions I think. Brad Hill had 8.
Sincs only had 1 clearance. Brad Hill had 3 clearances.
Both really worked hard all day.
Sincs had 4 score involvements. Brad Hill had 10 score involvements.
Unfortunately our forwards couldn't convert.

Brad falls over often when it counts. You don’t win a premiership with Cordy in the team. Well not another. We cannot win with only one ruckman.

I’m sure when Caminiti, Sharman, Marshall, Membrey, Owens, Higgins etc were butchering simple set shots they were thinking “ah it’s cos of our injuries”…

We may as well have not turned up - given we had injuries
We had lost before the ball was bounced!

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
It's simple. Kick goals when you're on top and you demoralise your opponents. Kick behinds and you energise them, and demoralise yourselves in the process.
We should have been 7 goals up half way through the 2nd quarter. Instead, we were one goal up. At that point I knew we'd struggle to win. The team look physically cooked late in the third and it really showed in the last.
Under the pressure and the fatigue, players started doing things in hope rather than following process.
The Coach will not be pleased

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
Despite all the injuries, if the 23 selected just performed adequately, we win easy.

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
So once injuries get to a certain quota the replacement professional footballer turns into a teapot? Personal responsibility eh, I panicked because another person wasn't playing. We would be a better side without injuries but that side should have won. Had chances to win and lost because some were mentally weak or lazy.CURLY wrote: ↑Sat 30 Mar 2024 7:26pm

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
We were also smashed in the clearances in the 2nd half.
Hopefully Dow will improve our clearance record.

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
We just have no idea on how to kill a game off
Marshall needs proper 2nd ruck support
Apart from his left foot Bonner adds nothing else
Cool heads today were non existent
Cluster fk from start to finish and you just know once we start missing gettable set shots we are in for a world of hurt
Extremely disappointing loss yet I am weirdly not angry because deep down I knew were going to choke at quarter time so had prepared myself
Tigers is now huge just to stay in touch

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
We knew we had a problem as Ryder approached retirement and have done very little to rectify it.
I don't know if we did, but,in my opinion, we should have made a play for Grundy.
