nope, nothing wrong.
no one has committed crimes, no one has done drugs, no one has cheated on teh salary cap etc.
and two old men are carrying on like a pair of bull elephants fighting over the herd.
stupid behaviour and it reflects poorly on st kilda.
between 2002 and 2006 we were a well oiled machine, achieving on and off the field, there were no leaks, when things went wrong we closed shop, clowns like caro and smith were closed out of the loop, few if any leaks and things went on.
right or wrong RB and GT started fighting and we look like a bunch of amateurs from a bad screen play.
the president with his trophy bride, the angry rejected coach, the revelations, the anomisity, the players being spied on, dodgy contracts, supreme court actio, they psycho stalker fan who ring up the radio with preprepared scripts...
geez, it smacks of days of our lives ><

I don't remember Blighty saying he was a supporter of the StKFC and had the StKFC 's best interest at heart after he left - and rightly so.JeffDunne wrote:MM, I agree with your last comment, on both men.
JB, I don't doubt either GT potting the administration when the mic's are off either. I'm sure plenty goes on both ways. It usually happens when a coach is sacked. I'm sure Blight was potting the admin too. His mates certainly were.
I don't get what the big deal is TBH. Unless his comments are more sinister than personal I couldn't care less & would expect it. If he is being more sinister I haven't seen any evidence of it.
I'd have no real issue with his (GT) 'pot shots' if he was upfront about it.
He wears his supposed love of eveything St Kilda like a badge of honour then IMO has his pot shots on the sly.
I believe this is where Caro was heading.
Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

Thomas had a period where he was good for the club because he was a St Kilda person.
And at that time we needed a St Kilda person in my humble opinion.
So he moved us forward.
But, as with all creatures mortal, he had a "use by" date, and that "use by" date came.
There were a raft of reasons mitigating against him and his style by the end of the 2006 season.
So, that is Thomas - done and dusted.
Time to build on and enhance the "Thomas model".
In regards the salary cap issues, he has apparantly made a statement which may or may not be off the mark.
If it is on the mark, who is it directed at?
Obviously he would not "dob" himself (and by extension, St Kilda FC) or the player agent's he has regard for - and probably even socialises with or, further, maybe, act for him too - in.
Would he?
To Mr Magic, I must resort to cryptic message on this particular subject.
I'll leave you to speculate as to why!
That is all for tonight because I have to visit my mother and my father.

Watch the movie Blue Chips and you'll see how it's gonna go in the future. Sure it's a crap movie, but boosters are pretty common in the US collegiate system, and there's even less you can do about it at AFL level. It's the way of the future. But please GT, just STF. You aren'treally that important anymore, and should look at finding a new way to keep yourself amused.

It was good of GT,the SEN football commentator,to enlighten those that hadn't paid any attention to modern day salary cap style rorting, that it existed and that it was deemed legal and that the saints management were being encouraged to get creative or get left behind............
He is no longer the coach, that is granted, but he is a football commentator and a very interesting one at that. It's better listening to an insiders view than
Hutchy's drama queen rantings........
I hope he stays in the media..........

The more things change the more they stay the same
time to bump this bad boy and add some thoughts...
maybe it does happen and the AFL is clever enough not to look too hard incase it finds a s***-storm and they are forced to take 'action'?
It looks like Waldron was the CEO and the creative accountant rolled into one
There you go...the internet is good for something other than talking garbage and facebook

The fact that the Saints are obviously linked to Waldron, and that the Saints are being 'mentioned' by the footy public (including about 39 threads on here) in relation to the possibility that we've cheated the cap during his time at the club, and the fact that Thomas actually did contracts himself - on top of course that it's the hottest topic in sport at the moment make me think it's actually very relevant that Thomas talk about it.JeffDunne wrote: I'm sure he had a reason for raising it.
And what he said surely must have been a relief to hear for Saints fans.
Frankly, I've been waiting to hear what GT has to say on the matter. He's probably the most important person to hear from on this topic for our club.

There is no doubt that he'll be asked about it on Footy Circumcised.rodgerfox wrote:The fact that the Saints are obviously linked to Waldron, and that the Saints are being 'mentioned' by the footy public (including about 39 threads on here) in relation to the possibility that we've cheated the cap during his time at the club, and the fact that Thomas actually did contracts himself - on top of course that it's the hottest topic in sport at the moment make me think it's actually very relevant that Thomas talk about it.JeffDunne wrote: I'm sure he had a reason for raising it.

However these comments from back in 07 must be some relief for Saints fans.
I'm quite interested in his thoughts on this matter.
Have to agree. I will be quite interested in what he has to say. For once I can actually say that I am glad he was in charge of player contracts at that time.rodgerfox wrote:I don't believe he's said anything yet.SainterK wrote:He hasn't said anything yet has he?rodgerfox wrote:The fact that the Saints are obviously linked to Waldron, and that the Saints are being 'mentioned' by the footy public (including about 39 threads on here) in relation to the possibility that we've cheated the cap during his time at the club, and the fact that Thomas actually did contracts himself - on top of course that it's the hottest topic in sport at the moment make me think it's actually very relevant that Thomas talk about it.JeffDunne wrote: I'm sure he had a reason for raising it.

Well it's taken 3 and a half years for it all to come out however it makes sense to why GT was considered so 'in charge' of everything et al at the clubsaint75 wrote:Have to agree. Yup, that also crossed my mind, K.SainterK wrote:I'm interested in what he has to say for sure, but does it have to be on the back of last weeks episode of FC when he said he used to lie?
His sarcastic comments about the AFL's integrity officer won't help either.
Still, if we've done nothing wrong, we have nothing to fear.

AFAIAC...plugger66 wrote:It will be amazing how many people all of a sudden beleive GT if he says anything positive about contracts.
This is an extremely important issue, one which would destroy this club if there was any illegal activity.
So I would expect... no... demand that he'd tell the truth.

There is lying and then there is LYING. Fudging about players to get an advantage is one thing. To outright lie and dig yourself an early grave over salary cap rorting is another! (yes, I noticed the wink....)SainterK wrote:I'm interested in what he has to say for sure, but does it have to be on the back of last weeks episode of FC when he said he used to lie?
Grant Thomas may be a lot of things, but a blatant out and out liar I don't believe he is. Not his biggest fan and I believe that he has some quite interesting 'opinions' on situations both past and present, but a liar I don't believe him to be. This is the reason I will be watching with interest over the coming days on his thoughts and comments on this issue from his time at our club.
