Thommo Farewell
Thommo has injured his knee. Ross has told him to rest and get it right and if we don’t make the finals he will be given a retirement game for round 22.
Innocent until proven guilty!

I feel real sorry for Thommo, not the way he would have wanted to finish his career.
If we don't make the finals, hopefully thommo can get himself right for round 22.

In Ross Get lost!
I am excited to stay at St Kilda and this is a great result for the Club and all our fans. I’m proud to be part of the Saints and am pleased to be playing football with the Clubâ€

I feel for Thommo. It looks like it might be a pretty ordinary way to finish what has been a very good career.
I guess that when he decided to play for one more year he was hoping to go out on top rather than on struggle street.
All the best for the future AT & thanks for many years of great service.

Great servant for the Saints.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
Lets not turn this thread into a bitch session over selections.
Well done to Andrew Thompson. You have been a wonderful servant of the St.Kilda football club.
Your persistence in the face of set backs saw you get drafted at 24 years of age, yet you still went on to play 200 plus games for our club.
He has been a best and fairest winner, and has captained this club on many occasions.
Can't speak highly enough of Thommo, sensational clubmen.

No it was with Casey last weekend. Someone tried to smother his kick and smashed into his knee. He only played 3/4 for Casy and still racked up 30 possies. Lyon had him penciled in for this week until his knee didn't come up.st.mart wrote:How did he injure his knee??????
at training???
His last outing was a 30 possesion 10 clearance game, his knee must have been OK then......
if he injured it at training - I would like to know how many injuries we have suffered over the past two seasons at training?????

Well done Thommo, a great career with plenty of the old "guts and determination" in your 220 odd games.
I really hope you get to play a "send off" game in the finals (winning GF with Harves would be nice) and cop the accolades you richly deserve.
Then, go back to the O.M.'s and join Russell ( the Fly) Morris and help them back to A Grade.

Congratulations to Thommo. He has been such an underrated player for our club. Its unfortunate that his best seasons did not coincide with us playing finals footy. He captained the club brilliantly in a period where we shocking - which is not an easy gig. All the best to him for the future!
Regarding our recruiting - I believe that our recruiting of older, recycled players over the last few years (since about 2003) has been horrible and we're now paying the price. I believe that already in a short period of time RL is putting more focus onto our development of youngsters, especially via the rookie list. Already, it seems as though RL has got more out of the rookies than GT eva did. CJ is a talented prospect, whilst Robert Eddy and Geary also have been in Casey's best on a number of occasions and are coming along nicely.

Thommo is a champion of our club, and one of our most consistent and loved players over the past decade.
He was the heart and soul when we were down the bottom, and carved out a career for himself when he was written off a couple of times ...
Champion.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

His experience, yes.Otiman wrote:Picture this.
The saints are playing in the last AFL game of september, and Thommo had gotten over his knee injury and played a half of footy for the scorps and amassed 25 posessions.
Do you play him in the grand final?
That would also mean Casey won the VFL GF the weekend before.
