Haselby would be a very good addition to the team. He is a super talented ball winner who is also very consistent. Besides 2006 he has hardly missed a game and has averaged well over 20 touches.
Pace is all well and good, but I think we may overrate it just a little.
Look at some of the better midfield groups getting around, Swans, Cats, Hawks even the Pies... they aren't overly quick but they get the ball and use it well and make quick decisions... I'd take that over a lightning quick bloke who couldn' t win his own ball.
if no lower club on ladder bites then 3rd pick or they will get nothing and we get him regardless via psd as no one wants the guy at the lower end anyway.
i rekon he would be a good player, our midfield would like;
insides ; ball ,haselby
taggers; baker, attard
outsides; monty and dal
mixed; bangers and hayes
extra fodder; fiora, armo ???, birss
its starting to look more rounded as a mid field, not perfect but better than last yr and this yr i rekon.
p.s
gram and and xman gives us additional pace if they play half back flanks.
the bottom line is that he would add depth to our midfield rotation...
that's one more classy player to take the heat off Dal, Monty etc and 1 more classy player to make Birss and Armitage etc earn their spot into the team...
I'd give up a second rounder for him + maybe a GOP like mini
If we can get a midfielder or onballer who can get first hands on ball centre bounces and around packs, and has top skills then I would be after that player. Fitness can be sorted as in preseason. I'm sure many Freo players would love to leave Freo. who are an undisciplined rabble.
