Well can you give me the names of the stars we have recruited with a pick around that mark in the last 4 years. They must be good players if you do not trade away that pick so give me the names.

Those 4 players also give us much better depth....

1/ In terms that our bottom 6 should be much better
2/ In terms of having more options for players that are injured.

AND we still have picks 9, 42 and 58...for some kids.....though who knows if we will use 58...

Interestlingly too is that Lyon would know the 2 Swans well in terms of their cpaability...and that our new recruiting manger would have had good contacts on the two Cats.

Give us all the failed picks over the years then if it doesnt matter how long ago. My point is pick 26 is a lottery. You probably cant see that because you always roll your eyes.

While I agree with you, I'm not sure how much weight Matty Ferguson adds to the argument.

People, let's not get too carried away. Sure, on the face of it, we have picked up 4 players for effectively one pick. But, in all honesty only two of those players will see any senior action in 2008. Schneider will be a starting 22 player, whereas King will be played subject to his fitness, and as we all know his body is very fragile.
Don't get me wrong, it was worth the gamble, but please don't try and talk up Charlie Gardner and Sean Dempster because if they are playing regular senior footy next year, we are in real trouble. I have no doubt that the King deal (pick 90) was done on the proviso that we take Gardner of their hands so that they could free up room in their salary cap. We were probably the only team to agree to those terms.
I sincerely hope we still look at picking a developing ruckman in the National draft.

I have a theory about this years drafting
The club is building a team to give Harvey the best chance possible to win the flag in 08.
Three of the four picks so far are quality and ready made, will add depth and put pressure on the top 22 list. Pick 9 to come for a kid that may "burst" on to the scene.
Bring it on i say and worry about 09 when we get there.

Well fixed may be too strong a word.....

But if King plays in the ruck he is better than Kosi....and WAY better than Rix or Brooks.

Gardiner is potentially better....but who knows if he will ever play.

If King can play...it means that Kosi can just play as a power forward...his best position.

IF King and Gardiner both played...then that would be wet dream stuff and a very good ruck division.
If King is fit - then it is fixed.

The only question mark ever over King's head has been his fitness.

He played 2 straight months and was a key player in a GF, against very good opponents.

He is aggressive.

He's only 28.

If he stays on the park, our ruck problem isn't a problem at all.

Why are we "in real trouble" if Sean Dempster plays 22 games next year?

The last time he played 22 games, he won a premiership.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Dempster has an upside....as does Gardiner.

As a minimum that give us much better depth in case of injuries.
