Thank You Ken S..
with any job come the ups and downs and with sports related positions then success or not will determine how you are viewed
Thanks Ken for stepping in at a time that was strained and getting us through that period to what would appear to be the start of an exciting-(rather than terrifying) time for the saints.
You have returned to us several times over the years in many guises.
enjoy your break and may you come back and enjoy the results of your time with us without the stress of being involved so closely.
Good luck Ken.

Thanks for your efforts Ken.
In some of the most tumultuous times this club has endured over the last decade, you were able to do a reasonable job with the resources you had.
You are from all reports a terrific bloke and did your best at the job you were given ... none of us could have asked anything more.
Unfortunately, you were appointed by politicians, and that meant politics was always going to sign your death warrant in the end.
Good luck with your future ventures, and it's unfortunate your time with the Saints couldn't have been more successful.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Ken, I, as a young bloke was unfortunate to have become a Saints supporter after the successful era of the 60's, which meant that during the late 70's & early 80's it was a hard time to barrack for them; those that remember will remember the ridicule it sometimes brought.
Any success we have had since then and I should think, for sometime to come, has been a result of your work, you started this period of success and I thankyou.

Some people have short memories re how Ken Sheldon as coach really set us on course in the early 90's to regain our professionalism and respect in the competition after being the whipping boys in the late 70s/80,s...
Thanks for your significant contributions Ken and good luck in your future endevours

*Played for the Saints
*Coached the Saints
*Worked one year as the Saints Football Manager
That means that he has contributed more to the Saints than most....may not have been perfect....but he has contributed more than most...

Agree with the above comments.
Although it was at the end of his career he played some great footy for us in what I guess you would now call a defensive sweeper role.
Read the play magnificently and was always ultra reliable.
Then came "The Manifesto".
The Sheldon coaching era was a beacon of hope after 15 years in the wilderness.
Who could forget Kenny stepping out carefully onto the muddy Moorabbin turf at 1/4 time in his smart looking suits and business shoes - but still wearing the StK socks.
Whilst he never delivered the ultimate he set the groundwork for Alves and later Thomas and now Lyon to build on.
He has been a loyal servent of the club in his assistant coaching role with the Scorpians and more recently stepping into the Operational role to plug a hole for the last year.
And last week provided a guiding hand in what looks like a very successful trading week.
Bomba has given us long and loyal service over a long period.
Players get life membership after 10 years.
He deserves a life membership at our next AGM.
On ya Kenny.

Did not contribute more than most.. Who is 'most'? Got paid for every minute he has spent at the club.saintsRrising wrote:Ken

Played for the Saints when finished.
Wasted the BEST side we have ever had.
Got sacked as a football manger.
Whatever... too-roo Ken.
