It wasn'n a finish!

It finished on the following Tuesday night with the Bummers cheating their way to a win.

Cheating. Can i ask why. Is it because they made a change to the side which the Saints could have done also is it that they were better than us on the days.

they would have beaten us most likely anyway...were 3 or 4 goals up at the time of the black out and I think they had our measure.

One thing I will dispute though is how you can alter the 22 for a game half way through...

granted exceptional circumstances existed but it was still esentially the same game of football.

How Hird was allowed to play is amazing.

I know we could have done it too, but that doesnt make it a correct calling.

obviously made a good story to make the show

BTW I didn't agree with their no. 1
Ok Duncan's race was good BUT:::::

Hackett's 1500 with punctured lung was good- Perkins comeback in lane 8 was good

:? maybe just Too many to choose from.

Saints were on a roll when the lights went out. Bummers had injuries and changed their line up to finish the game.

AFL as usual looked after pretty boy Hird and Sheedy.

yet another reason to despise the filth

outrageous that they were allowed to change the team from one day to the next

I have always wondered how it showed in the stats

did it register as a game for hird in his games total

did it register as a game for the player he replaced

This years World Cup final made number 2. I would have thought the 1999 Semi final against South Africa was a million times better ending.

Bradbury's should have been higher too.

Well, according to the link below from finalsiren, it counted as a game no matter how little time a player played. For the record, this particular game, Essendon had 26 players and the Saints had 25. All players had a stat except for Barnard for the Bombers - can't remember why though, must have got injured very early.

not sure that I have to prove my credentials as a supporter to anybody, including you

but for the record I was at the 71 grand final as a saints supporter

I don't tread your "club" line, move on and stop with the little baiting comments.

I think Stinger may have been there in '65 and '66, as I was, and the only filth is Collingwood.

Ahh the memories. I was there that dark night, and again for the finish. Pretty funny watching people running down the isles with toilet rolls.

Yes... I was there too.

Was sitting infront of the media boxes in the main stand (the only place which had light when the power went out)... and watching from up high was quite funny.

Still remember the ground announcers updates... "The latest news is... There is no news."

Turned out to be a car had hit a power pole in the local area, knocked out most of the surrounding areas.
