Oh When the Saints wrote:Jobe Watson is close to the nicest person I have ever met.

Terrific bloke.
Must run in the family...his Dad, coaching ability aside, is a very very nice fella, and his Aunty is a very nice nurse who cared for my Dad very competently during a hospital stay a while back

1. Adem Yze (Melbourne) - can't spell Adam correctly
2. Chad Cornes (Port Adelaide) - frontrunner, Fevola was right
3. Travis Cloke (Collingwood) - jam tin cannot kick over
4. Jeff White (Melbourne) - outside receiving ruck rover
5. Adam Cooney (Western Bulldogs) - supposed hard man
6. Simon Goodwin (Adelaide) - disposal problems
7. Chris Tarrant (Fremantle) - where do I start?
8. Lance Franklin (Hawthorn) - can't mark above his head, frontrunner
9. Adam McPhee (Essendon) - injury prone, lost his athleticism
10. Luke Ball (St Kilda) - gee that was hard to type
Id take out Ball, Franklin and Cornes and put in Wells, Deledio and Johnstone.

Oh When the Saints wrote:Agree plugger66.

I hate Franklin, but he is in the top 10 players in the AFL.

And Cornes, with an already strong reputation, showed how good he was in Port's GF loss.
Franklin probably will be at some point, but at this stage he's still not regularly using all his tools. He got handled well several times in '07 just by letting him lead to his wrong side - he'll take the shot from anywhere, and miss from the wrong side. He can play overhead, but rarely takes advantage.

He's fast, huge, capable at ground level, and a good mark and kick. If he keeps applying himself, he can be the comps best player... for now I'd list him the #1 overrated, and if he thinks he's already there, he'll look back in 5 years and find himself repeating Matthew Richardson's career. I'd love to have him on the Saints, as anyone could find a use for him, but it's easy to think of ten guys + I'd rather have than Franklin.

Prior to '07 I would have had Chad Cornes at #1. He'd been getting credited as being the comps best CHB while never taking opposition CHFs and predominantly playing loose - which he did incredibly well, he was IMO the best playmaking defender in the league, but not the key defender he regularly is credited as. In '07, he did virtually everything for that team, playing in the middle, playing as a key forward, playing his traditional role. When Port needed an edge somewhere, he was it. He convinced me that he's truly a top ten player.

Leo Barry is greatly overrated.....should be in the top 5 of that list.

Goodwin is a superstar, as is Franklin from that list.

A couple of players people have neglected who are super-important to their teams:

Brad Johnson
Fevola
Sam Mitchell

Don't forget those guys in the bigger picture of it all.

Also, pick for next year's top 10:

Jed Adcock

Watch this guy.

don't quite know how Yze gets on an overrated list

in his prime was a great player, suddenly age and injury took their toll and he became a bit player, so not sure that he is rated over or under, just does what he does

overrated

number 1

Dustin Fletcher

number 2 daylight

Not to mention his outstanding leadership.
