Lol, I have said this a few times, that while Geelong are the clear stand out team they are likely to be their own biggest enemies, if Johnson gets back on the grog and Mooney goes back to his old ways their forward line isn't looking that good anymore....

Evidently was not on the grog....

...but his car was impounded due to being so far over the speed limit.

Also, TAC is in the process of moving their HQ down to Geelong. I believe that Brian Cook has been negotiating to upgrade Geelong's partnership with TAC to an estimated $350,000pa. I guess those negotiations have now come to an abrupt end !!

Perhaps they will ban him from training and force him to miss the first 2 months.

Why does that sound familiar ?

ummmmmm

Well everyone does at some point in time. BUT 70 kms over the speed limit from someone who has been in trouble before!!! is exsessive. And if it was a saints player (which I am sure some do speed they are young boys) I would feel the same way that is he deserves the punishment and scrutiny, as has happened in the past with Frankie ect.

Interesting to see what happens to him now.

If he hadn't played in a premiership and won a Norm Smith medal then they would have sacked him instantly.

Not that those things should affect a discipline breach, but they do.

Geelong made it pretty clear last time he mucked up that he was on his last chance.

Not sure they were talking about speeding though and yes I do know he was a long way over the limit.

Yes but they will come out with...."this is not a repeat of his alcohol problems. We've asked Steven to undertake some counseling and contribute time to some community scheme......the leadership group isn't happy and Johnoo understands that....blah blah", = NO ACTION

And fair enough too. A Copper wouldnt get sacked for what he did and their job is to uphold the law.

Assume a slap on the wrist from the courts as well - "community role model, charity work" etc etc

Just proves if you want to get away with crime - be good at sport or acting.

What a load of rubbish. For a start they are punished by getting in the papers when 99% of people wouldnt get any mention. Secondly what proof is there they get less penalty. Do you know all the other penalties to judge the difference?

There is plenty of evidence famous people are dealt with less harshly than members of the general public: Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and the lost cast member have all served sentances numbering in the days for serious driving offences.

Sorry, the name and shame in the papers argument dosen't fly with me.

Your right. Both those cases were held in Australia I just forgot. And why isnt the name and shame a penalty as well because what ever way you look at it it is.

I think it was Trevor Marmalade who said once that many many players are described as having a "good football brain"

The trouble is, he mused, too many of them use their football brain in public instead of their actual brain

Exhibit A your honour...Steve Johnston

So far Steve Johnson has had his car impounded for 48 Hours under hoon Legislation (being Wed Night when he got caught would mean that he won't get it back till Monday morning as the pound only works office hrs and his time is up after closing on Fri).

Also, above and beyond a simple speeding fine he is looking at either "Speed Dangerous" or even "Conduct Endangering Life" as he was more than 45KP/H over the limit. The CEL alone carries a maximum of 12 years jail. I think you can safely say that the boy is in a fair bit of trouble, with or without Footy Club sanctions. Lets hope he learns !!
