Rohan Connolly predicts us to finish fourth ...

Post: # 514970Post Oh When the Saints »

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/f ... tml?page=2
St Kilda came home with a rush last season, has its head round coach Ross Lyon's philosophies now, and with the addition of five ready-made senior players in recruits Steven King, Charlie Gardiner, Adam Schneider, Sean Dempster and a rehabilitated Michael Gardiner, has imposing depth and evenness >>>>>>>>>>
His ladder:

Geelong
Collingwood
Hawthorn
St Kilda
Kangaroos
Port Adelaide
West Coast
Western Bulldogs

Essendon
Brisbane
Fremantle
Sydney
Melbourne
Carlton
Adelaide
Richmond

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

i think the ladders pretty much spot on but i would have adelaide in the 8 instead of the bulldogs and the swans at 9.

If we played Geelong in a final first up, I'd put every cent I had on us winning.

its a pretty good ladder from what i can see, except i dont think the crows will drop so low, and essendon wont be so high, and tigers and blues wont be in the bottom 4. apart from that the top8 is perfect!

i would be very confident...if we are there (top 4 obviously to play geelong) then we are the real deal - as dumb as that sounds...

once we get there i have no doubt we can make the granny and best of all win it

Based on the last 7 years, it is more probable than not that there will be at least 4 interstate teams in the 8 and the Grand Final will be played with at least one interstate team in it.

Still, that means we are in with a chance.

Don't mind our recruiting. But I think Connolly is wrong about the team adapting to the coach's game plan. What actually happened is that dirty-track suit let the team revert back to Thomas's all-out attack game plan.

Don't praise Lyon for what happened in the second half of the season. I think the players just ignored him and he had to go along with it because his Edelstein game play had no more pink piano keys. He could still make our team even more boring than Adelaide and Sydney - keep him under control by backing the players.

Shouldn't be too mean - I was actually impressed with the recruiting at the end of 2007.

Wish Barks was still around.

i rate him as the best journalist in the main melbourne metro papers, herald sun and the age.

Mark Stevens isnt to bad as is Mark Robinson (i think thats his name)

Even Robert Walls is half good at times.

Connoly is a standard above imo though

he was a clear winner in the age's footy tipping last season from memory also

Adelaide will not get anywhere near the eight.

They have lost Hudson(No 1 Ruckman), Welsh(leading Goalkicker),Riccuito, Biglands(may have done his ACL again), Mattner, Torney(can not believe they delisted him).

Their remaining ruckman(Griffen & Maric) have played 28 games between them.

They don't have a proven key forward(Burton - erratic, Bock - injury issues, Gill - injury issues).

Don't dwell on the past.
Look to the future.

Well, Grant Thomas for one disagrees.

Read his article in The Age after the Adelaide game and then his comments on radio after the Hawthorn game, both of which refute your comments.

But hey, GT was only an AFL coach and is no authority to back up the fact that Lyon's plans were working when he had more than 24 players to chose from

Who cares what any writer says. They know as much or little about where sides will finish as we do.

they weren't there last year and when clement was he wasn't looking to flash after coming back form injury a few times...

the may have had a half dozen good quality games from it

and buckley...he might have become he coach of the woods and all but still...
