If you have all seen this pic already please delete and/or disregard. Absolute courage shown here and had me shuddering. That act alone would have inspired his 21 other team mates that much more.

It's not Photo - shopped - it's real.hAyES wrote:Just saw this on On The Couch and couldn't believe my eyes. Surely it's not real?
How good was it being there?Life Long Saint wrote:That real photo shows two things...
1. It was a mark. Jones shows that he has the ball clutched tightly into his chest. The only reason that it comes loose and ends up on the ground is due to the contact by Mattner.
2. That it was a free kick for being too high.
I agree with Iceman, Mattner was lucky not to get a 50m penalty for that. Jones had eyes ONLY for the ball. Mattner, whilst courageous, did not.
True courage is knowing that you're going to get hit hard but still going on with the task anyway.
It's what GT always said...Everyone has to take their turn. That was CJ's turn. He took it, a goal resulted and the final margin was less than a kick.
The applause just seemed to go on for ever...It fired the crowd up (or was that woke the crowd up?)Iceman234 wrote:How good was it being there?
We saw CJ running back - we saw him look up and see the oncoming player. We saw him keep going even though we all knew he was gonna get smashed.
And he did.
It was inspirational, even to all of us in the crowd, it was just great.
It was silent for a short time, ala Kosi, but then when he moved it became a wave of emotion.Life Long Saint wrote:The applause just seemed to go on for ever...It fired the crowd up (or was that woke the crowd up?)Iceman234 wrote:How good was it being there?
