heard on radio of Kangaroos staff purchasing memberhsips for people who show an interest at the front desk.

they are at 28,500
On the surface of it they seem to be going well don't they but
I'm pretty sure that the kangaroos have the option of a reduced type of membership category which doesn't include entry to matches and doesn't cost much and possibly makes their membership nos look a little more impressive than they are in relation to other clubs.

the saints also have that option- but only memberships wiht 5 games or more are actually counted in final totals

hence the tigers have two figures on thier site.

That reminds me of when the Bulldogs were selling "pet memberships" and were somehow allowed to count them in thier overall tally.

And they STILL got under 20,000.

I think Hawthorn got caught out doing that as well a few years back.

I believe they were takeing 'sponsorship money' and using it to buy memberships, therfore increasing their membership tally. I believe that David Friend was in charge of their membership dept at that time.

Guess what I heard this morning on Fox FM?!

an ADVERTISEMENT for St Kilda Memberships starring Nick Dal Santo!!!

Never, for god knows how many years, have I EVER heard or seen an advertisement for OUR memberships on commercial radio or TV, except for that lamo one that play during the footy with that ear-aching jingle and the poor attempts at comedy (rooey catching that brides bouquet anyone?)

So it seems we really are taking it seriously... mind i heard the ad at :30 this morning... hopefully it's played a bit more often during peak listening periods.

Hopefully that gets a few more members for us!

Carlton Breaks Membership Record
The off-field growth of the Carlton Football Club continues with CEO Greg Swann announcing today that the club has 35,455 members in 2008. This eclipses the previous record membership of 35,431 set last year.

Hawks break all-time membership record
The Hawthorn Football Club has broken its all-time membership record and sights are firmly set on smashing the club’s 2008 target of 35,000 members.

As of Tuesday 1 April the club has 33,540 members, topping the previous 2002 record of 33,319. With growing membership in Tasmania (the Hawks second home) Hawthorn President Jeff Kennett congratulated those members who have committed to the Club in 2008 with the promise of an exciting season ahead.

Saints lagging badly behind these two clubs.

Apologies we didn't burst onto the scene with a young side and finish top four or recruit Chris Judd evertonfc ....

Membership is a by-product of success or anticipated success.

Sustained success breeds longer-term committment from members and gradually builds a membership base.

It's mostly why Collingwood and Essendon have huge fan bases that commit each year.

If our next five years are as "successful" as our last five, our base membership will keep climbing.

When is a 'membership' really a membership? I believe that Pratt bought some 5,000 memeberships through Visy for the club. Which if true doesn't make their figure so impressive.

Also, the hawks include about 3,000 tas memebers, who pay for 3 or 4 game memebrships, which isn't the same as a full membership....

North Melbourne beat saints to 30,000 members, and good on them. I'm glad they are putting up a fight and wish them well. Moving to the Gold coast would have been the death of the club and the new club would have been totally different with a few token initials on the back of the guernsey's collar. Hope no melbourne teams are forced to move, as i like watching the Saints play in melbourne as often as possible.

Should I go to the membership tent and have a little whinge so I get my scarf, sticker, pin, et al?

Don't want to be waiting until the end of the year for nothing like I did for my Storm hat.

If it's the same as last week, I got my scarf outside Gate 6/7 :D

Question before I leave for game: I signed up after the 21st of December and I got the member DVD with highlights? Was I supposed to get this?

The membership level, 29,404 as at 4.4.08, to me is very disappointing when compared to North Melbourne, over 30,000 and Hawthorn at 35,000.

We are running third last ahead of Melbourne and Richmond - a poor effort Sainters.

I would love to know how many 2007 members have NOT signed up this year and Why?

Unfortunately it's a reflection of the lack of on field success. The sooner they start winning and making the finals the better. I think a few supporters are pissed off with the broken promises

Another opportunity awaits!
