Kicking at Goal

Post: # 546390Post saintgus »

Our kicking at goal has been awful.
Had we been able to kick straight we would still be a chance.
Do players not practice enough or.......

the players just can't handle the pressure.

We could have been alot more than 7 points up at qrt time, not that I think it would make any difference seeing they appear to have no guts after qrt time in the past 2 weeks.

It is because you can count the players that are actually good kicks at goal on one finger and that also goes for players in the side capable on kicking a goal on the run! So, what do they do to compensate?? They forever handball sideways intead of going down the middle and consequently make it even more impossible to score a six pointer! Their style of play is so frustrating to watch.

It's a major weakness we have.

The worst weakness a team could have really.

Goodbye 2008,2009,2010 and probably 2011.

The club needs a rebuild with a focus on players who are

1. Fast
2. Can kick goals.

Diirgg balarrhghghg chortle.

We also had 2 out on the full from 30m out in the last quarter - so we actually had just as many scoring shots

Oh yeah and Ball didn'tmake the distance from 35m out on the run and it was off target anyway

Steven Milne was once the best kick for goal in the competition. He had a run of about 30 goals without kicking a point. In his first five years he kicked 210.92 Since then he's kicked 68.58.

Luke Ball was a sensational kick with either foot when he started. No you just groan when he has the ball.

Kosi at least was better this week.

our goal kicking (and on that note, kicking to our forwards) is beyond pathetic

I think the problem is deeper than just goal kicking. Our general disposal skills are very ordinary. The saints disposal efficiency was way down on geelongs.

Kicking for goal is distgusting. Should NOT happen at the elite level. These guys are paid big bucks and should not miss easy shots for goals.

Early in the last qtr, we actually started playing very well, and we have 3 easy shots for goal miss.

That would have bought us within 2 ro 3 goals and could have changed the momentum. Not saying we would have won, but it is the most BASIC part of the game, and we could not put any pressure on them and test them becuase of pathetic kicking for goal.
