Who says Saints crowds arent loud?

Post: # 551445Post saint66au »

AS well as the teams best effort, thought the crowd put in their best performance for the year too!!!

Very loud at times during the game, culminating with a wonderful cacophony of noise when Breezer Boy was taking that shot for goal. Great stuff!!

Wel done too to the MW...did our bit even though "all-ticket" games means that we have more opposition fans than usual among us..and with our Shamen/Capo sick at home with the flu.

i thought the cheersquad was very loud and i was at the bombers cheersquad end. Much better than last week and i was pretty much in directly to the left of the cheersquad. Even the saints fans in the middle of the ground were great. i assume they are reserve seat fanatics they were giving some players hell and not to mention the umpires.

Thought the atmosphere was flat as dish water last night.

Sounded like thee were more Essendon supporters last night, and the only time the place came alive was in the third qtr.

yes.... we were louder than usual. But the Bombers fans were much, much louder than anything we could hope to dish up.

5 prelims in 7 years. 40 wins from 49 games.
2009 and 2010 were 2 of the 5 best years ever by the St.Kilda FC.
Thanks for all your efforts Saints.

Bit off topic but I have never heard anything like the crowd noise from the opening IPL match last night. Looked like an amazing atmosphere.

Sat in the Social CLub last night in aisle 20 just n ext to the race.
I was actually amazed at how much noise was made towards the middle of the third quarter to the end of the 4th.
IT's amazing the stuff that can happen when you have all st kilda supporters supporting the team as well as each other in times like that.
Of course, that's bar the random essendon supporter who was behind me.
Don't you just love those really drunken bastards who resort to bagging the living daylights out of opposition players because their own players can't get a kick, i.e lloyd?

exactly, and therein lies the usual problem.

Perhaps there were more Bombers fans there than Saints fans?

Look how empty L3 was towards the end of the game when they were finished!

I reckon the reason Saints fans came alive was due to 18 goals being kicked, with 10 of them from in play - ie. not just a lot of goals (by team standards), but "exciting" goals also.

Remember that when your club has a young team not expecting to win playing you tend to get a little more excited and vocal. I remember some very young teams in 2002 - 2003 where we got close the sound would go up a level. Plus they are a big club, who love the TD.

Thought the cheer squad was very good but I do come back to the point that us saints supporters spend more time bitching, moaning and being scared of losing the match insteed of getting behind the team. We are starting to improve as a supporting crowd but please get behind them when the game is in process and leave the potting of players to after the game.

The St Kilda crowd barracking was much better than I can remember last night - excellent stuff :D :D - the Essendon crowd was probaqbly a bit louder when they looked like coming back but that is understandable - I would imagine us getting a even louder under those circumstances.

I think a lot of folk were delayed because of the train problems. Second half was much better than the first when it was a bit eerie.

On a different topic - does anyone else agree with me that Bombers fans are the most feral supporters in Victoria. I lost count of the number of times people shouted out at Milne - the usual disgraceful insult which I won't repeat.

They are totally one-eyed, which I don't mind I guess as I am a bit that way myself, but they are totally humourless sourpusses.

when Lloyd lissed that goal from 30m out in the last quarter it made my night!
and the noise we made when he was lining up for goal was amazing! i couldnt even hear what the person was yelling at me, and she was sitting next to me! (and no, i dont have hearing problems)
i loved it! lets hope we can do the same next week at Aami!

I see you found a brief report on David's signing and also Jason Blake-I would guess Jason's is two years as well?
Meanwhile, the club has announced Jason Blake and David Armitage have signed new deals.

I always sit on level 2 around bay 42 so I can compare the St Kilda reserved seats on level 1 (St Kilda home game) versus opposition home games.
St Kilda level 1 reserved seats are pathetic, they would only ever have woken a baby once in the last few years.
That was the booing when Llyod had his shot for Behind,

I'm a bit surprised by this thread.

It felt like we were playing at AAMI stadium after a few of our goals in the second half.

Essendon were at least twice as loud as the Saints, and we were on level three behind the Saints cheer squad.
On a different topic - does anyone else agree with me that Bombers fans are the most feral supporters in Victoria. I lost count of the number of times people shouted out at Milne - the usual disgraceful insult which I won't repeat.
Yes! I have always found them to be a nasty bunch.
