Goose?

Post: # 559876Post Bernard Shakey »

Time to find some form in the magoos.

I really think Goose is up himself. He has done nothing to indicate he is ready to play senior football.

Seems to me that he thinks because he is a media performer that he must be as good a footballer as he was before he broke his leg.

He was on the verge of being great. Unfortunateley he has not got anywhere near that level. He has either not got close to his previous form, or his head is ahead of his body. I feel it is the latter.

so if you are no good you are up yourself. Why?

Agree he's not in form and showing no signs, and might be better with a couple of weeks at Casey.

Can we afford to keep him playing right now?
And it not, is/are there (a) better option(s)?

How this can be linked to Goose's head by Mr Shakey I am not sure though.

I think you will find that his feet are again a problem. He did take a contested mark in the last quarter when he had to come back on because we were down to 18. Only the second contested mark from our backs all night.

Not defending the performance of Goose.

But do people on here actually understand how difficult it is to remain defensive within the defense, as well as attack and run off.

Very Very difficult.

And plainly, a lot of people can't actually see defensive play on TV.

Very very hard to please from defense. As people mostly only notice the running, leaving the man attack.

Interesting to hear Neale Daniher say that Goose needs to lose some weight
to regain some more mobility........

Came off for nearly a quarter with a foot problem,he took his boot off as soon as he ran through interchange......

I agree with Grant Thomas

Goose can only run in a straight line - play someone flexible on him and hes stuffed.

He needs a spell....and it could be a while for me.

Give an Allen, heck find out IF Ferguson can play but NOT Blake.

Well thats obvious given we all remember when he went one on one with Jonathon Brown in Round 6,04. Then again how many players can we not say can do better than what they are doing now?

How do we know he's up himself and just not struggling after bad injuries and lacking form?

plugger66, I never said he was no good. I said he is up himself, because what I observe at training is a person who believes he is above his teammates.

I may be wrong, but this is the impression he exudes, and I am not the only one to feel this way. Max probably does also and I would take much more notice of Max than anything I have to say.

So Max had a comment to say to him so he is up himself. Now i am confused.

plugger66, I said he is up himself, not Max.

I stand by my statement. In my opinion, he is up himself and I don't care what you think.

If you think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread, or is carrying an injury, or whatever, good for you.

I think he is up himself.

I also hope he gets his head together and starts playing the football we all know he is capable of.

whether he is "up himself" and I can see why people may think that,or not is beside the point.

He needs a spell in the Magoos - he cant turn when he runs FFS.

simple really, I go to the games and watch him closely, check out his demeanor after he has coughed up the pill or beaten to it.. check out the body language.. almost like Fevola..throws the arms in the air..shouts obscenities while looking at the crowd, even Max had a crack at him.
Ok coming back from injury...play him in the twos. he needs that.

Don't know what Goose's future holds. He's played one good game (vs Hall in 2006) in 3 years and is running out of opponents who he can keep up with. Too slow to match leading forwards, too short to spoil power forwards and no good at ground level. He gives away far too many easy free kicks, he's injury-prone and his kicking seems to have diminished.

He is absolutely up himself but I don't see what that has to do with his football form. Goose always has been and always will be his own biggest fan (although that probably goes for a large portion AFL players).

i looks like a guy who has been out of AFL football for a while

tonight he was alot better than last week, and i'd give him another go next round to see if he can show some more improvement

i don't think playing in the 2's is gonna help him, needs to get used to the pace of the AFL again

don't know why people expect him to come back as a champion, he's gonna take a few weeks to get back into it.

he's virtually a recruit who we know can play at the elite level.

we gave time to lenny, and goose needs the same.
