Hang on a minute, what about Shane Birss.
This guy kepted a major ball winner quiet tonight in Heath Shaw.

The guy derseves to be in that list... He worked hard tonight, yes he turned the ball over at times, but did his job.

Armitage was good given the number of games he has played.

I hate to say this but I think the G-train is a liability rather than an asset.

Need to do more than blanket a guy....you have to win some footy aswell...we cannot have 8 players getting less than 10 touches......but yes he was serviceable for a guy who got 7 touches...

The thing that frustrates me is that our taggers regularly fail to hurt their opposing player offensively. Its great to shut down a player but you have to also hurt them with your disposals! There is no use going into a game with 3-4 taggers if they cant get the ball themselves and hurt the opposition.

But how many possies??

3 in total. Great rucking game but needs to impose himself more around the ground.

Geelong's tagger is Cameron Ling.

He stops his opponant, and then wins 25 touches on his own.

Tonight, St Kilda used Shane Birss.

He stopped his opponant, which is good, but couldn't win the footy to save himself.

Probably indicative of the difference between to the two sides.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

You could also take a Kane Cornes, racks up the touchs and is able to keep a player quiet. (not all the time, but always racks up a bucket load of touchs)

differnce being Birss had a shut down role playing as a half forward 100 times harder then a shut down role in the middle, in the middle you get taken to the footy, playing shut down when your a forward you have to avoid the footy yet still position yourself to be dangerous enough for Shaw to Follow, Birss was good. Very Good.

Considering our tall forwards were in the worst 5 for us. I would expect G to announce his retirement this week. Not sure a player like him needs to be playing for scorps. Kosi is so overated at the moment and refuses to kick for goal as does Gardiner. For gods sake they are our forwords back yourself guys.

Ball, S.Fisher, Hayes, Harvey outstanding. Dal Santo, Blake, Montagna, Birss, Hudghton, Goddard, L.Fisher, Armitage, M.Gardiner all pass.

The rest were useless.

Next week
OUT: Gehrig, Clarke, C.Gardiner
IN: Allen, Geary, Fiora

Gehrig is past it (can still mark if given good delivery but that isn't going to happen)
Raph had a shocking game
C.Gardiner struggles hugely against half-decent opposition

Allen deserves a go from good VFL form
Geary never should have been dropped in the first place
Fiora has his flaws, but he has pace and skill (two things that we desperately lack)

I would say Michael Gardiner was outstanding in the last quarter and actually looked like he bled for the club. He will have a terrific remainder of the season.

Agree with that list. Most worrying thing is just how useless the rest were.

We lost simply by missing far too many easy shots on goal...3 from Lenny which was unusual for starters, milne at least a couple ...(confidence sapping for the team)
They missed only a couple by way of comparison and also kicked at least 3 near impossible ones....( confidence lifters) and one of them actually hit the flag and was a point!
we really should have won by at least a couple IMHO

I agree re Gehrig. Shame it didnt work but it didnt. Face facts, give the guy a dignified exit and move on. IF Kosi IS to be a FF in future then he needs to be told - spots yours....now take the opportunity, settle in a position and reach some potential before its to late.

I know was damn annoying as I made heath my dreamteam captain knowing we cant apply pressure for crap...typical one of the few winners was vs him...well I guess we didnt get pantsed as badly as I thought we would....so should we count this as a victory and pat ourselves on the back yet more about how successful our change incoach has benn :D

Kosi will never be a FF because to kick multiple goals you need to lead and he is to slow on the lead. Pack marking is overated in todays footy.

Yep, I missed Gardiner. He definitely looks like the best ruckman we've had at St Kilda since 2002.
