Team '04 vs Team '08

Post: # 568201Post cps »

There's been a bit of talk about our "decline" that assumes the list is the same as a few years ago.

Could someone post our best '04 team vs. our curent best team.

How many changes have there been since then?

Hudghton - Penny - Baker
Jones - Maguire - Voss
Black - Hayes - Dal Santo
Powell - Riewoldt - Hamill
Koschitzke - Gehrig - Milne
Knobel - Harvey - Ball

Blake - X. Clarke - Goddard - Thompson

Only 10 of those guys played last night. Make of that what you will.

You also need to take into account the age and condition of those players
- e.g.
- harvey, max & Gehrig were 3 to 4 years younger
- goose & ball were injury free

AND relative to where the competition our list was significantly better. Many more teams going through a decline or rebuiling phase through 04/05...these teams have now surpassed us.

Hudghton (4 years older and closer to retirment) - Penny (never replaced ) - Baker (neuterd by the trybunalcant play his naturalgame anymore)
Jones (Gram is not 1/100th the player he was) - Maguire (never came back to the form of pre broken leg ) - Voss (Sam Fisher more value)
Black (Joey steped up but Black added more grunt) - Hayes(same) - Dal Santo ( now gets the hard tags )
Powell (honest toiler ) - Riewoldt (not getting looked after by hammil)- Hamill (big hole that looks destend to never be filled)
Koschitzke (god knows where that 2005 form when roo was out went ?)- Gehrig (gone body has said no more )- Milne (possilby more compleate player now )
Knobel (king and gards much better option)- Harvey (keeps on going on)- Ball (showing signs of getting back to the best form)

Blake (same old) - X. Clarke (lot better this year then 04) - Goddard (much better now then in 04)- Thompson ( still miss his abillity to give 120% to every contest)

If half the team is different, doesn't this throw a different light on the RL vs GT debate?

Nobody has an agenda, we would just rather see us play entertaining football and lose than play boring rubbish that only the worst teams play and lose. Simple as that.
Would you rather see us get smoked by Hawthorn last year or hammered by Brisbane in the 04 first final? At least against Brisbane we entertained.

A true king does not label umpires disgraceful.
A true king is Robert Harvey.

YZou only remember the first game against Hawthorn and obviously have forgotten the last time we beat them?

I've been a supporter for nearly 50 years and I like to watch them win - whatever it takes.
I don't go to see 'pretty football' and lose.
I get no satisfaction from a 'pretty' loss.

Go ask Essendon supporters how they are enjoying their exciting gameplan this season.
