Michael Gardiner is on the up...

Post: # 578656Post Cairnsman »

maybe.

From all accounts it sounds like Michael Gardiner had a good game today. Won the hitouts convincingly but also sounds like he did some good things at ground level too. The guys on MMM said that he looks like he might be about to hit some good form.

Anybody at the game pay him much attention?

he didn't rove to Kingy very well though- had to have another tap :)

but from where I sat was very good and busy around the ground

Kingy was trying to stir gtrouble in the forward line at one point.

As i think i have said already, That passage of play where he tapped the ball into Lukey Ball's out stretched palms was magical. Polly Farmer or Mick Nolan -esc.

Gardiner was fantastic today.....gotta love the big fella having a go the entire time he's on the field.....come years end he'll be awesome in the ruck.

Was quite funny when he ran from the forward line to the halfback line to make a lead for Goddard.....was leading his opponent by at least 10m and not anyone else within 15m of him and Goddard ignored him, the look Gardiner gave him;

"Are you FU*KING blind?"

Classic.

The big unit MG looked fantastic today.Moved very well, was reasonably good around the ground, positions himself well, not immobile.Reckon the long kick is his best option when he has the pill.

Will definately improve if managed properly,as he has been recently. Will be crucial as we move along this year.Hopefully there is a majority here that will agree.

Benny.

A very good performance by Gardi today. Won the ruck easily, with some of his taps being superb i.e. the one to Ball. Also had a presence around the ground and never stopped presenting. Can only improve.

I thought Ross was very smart in the way he used Gardi & Kingy today. For the 1st 3 Quarters he used them in 6-7 minute spurts and then alternated them off the bench. I think the stats say that Gardi got 21 hitouts and Kingy 18. More than this, it was the protection these guys afford our ball carriers that makes them very valuable comodities for our team !!

Really great to see him convincingly be the best ruckman on the ground...he hasn't done that for a while.

King and Gardiner will prove to be very cheap and handy acquisitions for this football club.

Great job- hope he & Kingy continue to show how much we've needed a decent ruckman! - hope they're both invoved with the development of the emerging talent .eg Ben, Luke

Good game today, but I still shudder when he kicks the ball. Very bad.

I thought it was he was great especially his decision to quickly clear it but kicking it towards the forward line when he rovered his own ball.

I reckon he has a solid year, this being one of his best games.

Has performed better then King accross the season and King has been serviceable also.

Exceeding my expectatons so far, (at one stage last year I doubted he would make the park) Is improving every week, and becomming more mobile, if he keeps improving he may reach his past dominance.....

Looks to me like a man who knows that he has to produce now, or hes career is over, improving all the time after missing o lot of footy.Upside for me is that he seems to have done the hard yards to achieve this .Having said that i have never rated White [melb] highly, but do look forward to seeing him REALLY take on some of the bigger name players.Good luck to him,and us

It is - one thing I'm pleased with Lyon is that he's had two excellent trade weeks.

We've picked up Gardiner, Birss, Schneider, King, C Gardiner and Dempster for picks 22 and 43.

A good result. Considering we're so pathetic at the draft table, I'm glad we're at least extracting maximum value from trade week. It's always worth grabbing some bargains there...

I strongly believe in trading aggresively to improve your current stocks, but still being a major player at the draft table.

You must always be seeking to improve your list.

You can tell by the number of clearances we had and hitouts to advantage

it is amazing what you can do with some real ruckmen

If we can keep both on the pitch we will be more damaging than most people think
