McKernan won a B&F at Carlton...
Walker will be a player (currently injured)
Remember they would have Goddard and Wells added to that aswell...
Richmond - first two GUNS with significant injuries
Mark Coughlin
Nathan Brown - through trade
Oakley Nicholls - TERRIBLE
Delidio - GUN!
Tambling - OK
Simmonds - through trade....VG
Pettifer - OK
Schultz - Just

I clearly stated that I was comparing the period that YOU mentioned in YOUR original Post.
I'm just stating the facts as a comparison. But obviously you've got an agenda to prove
![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)
BTW I forgot to include 1997 - Kris Massie

sorry to drag this up, but i think this list of players highlights:
1. An inability to develop players that clearly have talent
* Beethan: as they say... all the talent in the world... poor attitude, i bet Matthews, Williams, Malthouse would have turned him around
* X and Raph kind of speak for themselves... loaded with talent
*Mini looked like a star in his 1st season yet couldn't cut it in a team with a poor midfield!!!
2. That we tend to delist players w/o giving them a proper go/play underperforming over and over again
*Brooks: clearly a talented forward and potential ruck yet barely got a game in his last 3 years despite several good performances for the 2s
*Watts, showed a bit despite being injury riddled and was then gone... was a spot their for Gehrig though
Throw Murray, McGough and Schwarze into the list of players with the big 'what if' tags forever surrounding them

I agree with Skeptic. It's more a problem of talent development than talent identification. All of the players mentioned in the original post had enough natural talent to make it. That they didn't is partly due to club inability to get the best out of them, partly due to the player for not making the necessary sacrifices and partly due to luck (injuries etc).
Can't blame the club for drafting them, they would all have looked great at junior level.
I just wonder how our relationship (or lack thereof) with the Scorpians may have hindered the development of our junior talent.
