Spoke at length, probably one of the more insightful interviews i've heard with him.

Wants to "play the kids" and knows that the playing group isn't working well together.

Harvs - Scans came up clear
Ferguson - Scans also came up clear, but he pulled up sore and made the decision (himself?) to not play.

McEvoy a certainty, with 2 or 3 others he'd like to fit into the side.

SAINTS PEN WORRIES TO COACH
Wednesday, June 18th, 2008 at 6:08 pmBY ALANA LAKELAND

FRUSTRATED St Kilda fans have written to coach Ross Lyon asking for an explanation for the team’s poor performances.

Fans have asked Lyon why players don’t hold tackles and miss set shots.

Lyon said he would take on the fans’ concerns but if they became too superfluous he would disregard them.

“They ring true those messages and you can take a bit out of them,â€

the letters emails the fans sent to the coach, how do we find out his email any ways?

I would be pretty sure that RL's PA would read the emails not RL. Dont think that would change how he spoke but if the board spoke to him that may be different.

Haha loved the reaction to the term "Resurgent Dockers!"

"How many games have they won in a row?....................One?...Well that is resurgent"

They might not have one many lately but their form is better than ours over the last 5 weeks. Is very much a danger game.

That may be so but Resurgent is a pretty strong term and one that i think hardly fits the situation.

By that logic i could state that a win against the 14th placed Dockers should launch us into a period of dominance unseen in the modern era culminating in a well deserved flag! :D

clearly knows his footy for mine and is focussing on future - a good listen actually.

I am a cynic....and I wonder whether he dropped the bit about supporters letters urging him to make hard decisions to perhaps forwarn that over the coming weeks he'll do that as he's had enough?....struck me as odd...the only one he could clearly recall was about having to make tough decisions for the good of St Kilda....the week hes been talking bout playing kids...

Anyhow who cares, play them and lets get on with it.

I did like the "resurgent" line.....geex some dumb journos getting round.....I also liked the fact he admitted he couldnt care less about tanking........ALL hes concerned about is improving St Kilda's performance.

You get the feel that whatever happens with Lyon as coach it wont be for lack of trying on his part....I just hope some players are thinking the same way...

13 minutes to say nothing

Ross is clearly learning the coaching caper though.

He's got the AFL's biggest cop-out down pat - "we're playing the kids"

I've listened to Ross on the media a few times lately - heard audio interviews like this, and on the radio...

What's interesting to me is this:

- His actual content is sometimes very interesting, and often full of information... but when he speaks, he often has a monotone voice - so it's harder to identify exactly what's most important, and what is not.

- This is not surprising in some ways (he's known from his football experience, not his public speaking experience). But is can get in the way of the message.
