David Armitage

I'm loving the look of this kid....

Tonight he had 14 possessions, 5 contested, 3 clearances and 1 goal from only 54 minutes game time (total match time of 115 mins). Plus, Channel 10 showed their 'distance covered' graphic post-match and Armitage was 6th on the list, covering 8.9km's. In only 54 minutes game time.

Once this kid gets more accustomed to AFL, a few more seasons experience and can run out full matches, he really will be a very important player. Very happy.

Sorry to disappoint you but they only had monitors on 6 players.

He had the GPS on tonight ...was third in ranking for the Saints with Riewoldt first and Blake a close second ...Obviously the boy has a bit of a tank ...

He's a vice captain/captain of the future. Once heard interviewed on SEN and was impressed with his maturity and leadership.

Why is he getting less than 50% gametime? Is he not fit enough or doesn't Lyon like him?

And he ran the least distance of the 6 players who had monitors on!
Most probably because he spent the least time on the ground , but another case of statistics telling you anything you want them to.

They didn't have monitors on them but I reckon you would be safe in saying that
Ball
Joey
Fisher
King
Kosi
Dal
Mini
all ran a further distance than Armo, let alone the Kangaroo midfielders.

Not to say he didn't play well, just thazt hte distance he ran according to Ch10 is irrelevant.

I'd be surprized if it was less than 95% of the total.
Blake would be similar tog to Roo.

Roo's distance traveeled is very unusual for the position he plays (roaming CHF)

Most midfielders regualrly travel that distance and more.

I wasn't having a go at Armo, just pointing out that Ch10 only tracked 6 players tonight and you therefore cannot use those figures in any meaningful way other than to say that Roo ran 14.4kms etc.

My question is why does Armo only get 54 minutes. Is it lack of lung power or could he keep going? There is nothing wrong with 8.9 kms in 54 mins for any mid unless of course he was spent.

I'd hate to see either Eddy or Gwilt go... both seem to be getting better each week

seemes to me that perhaps one of Allan or C. Gardiner should go for Hayes

I would like to see Armo stay. He seems to be a goal kicking midfielder. Is hard at the ball and can lay a pretty good tackle. Some more game time and confidence will do wonders for him. If RL is out there leave him in the team for an extended period (provided he keeps doing all the tam things) and we should start to see a vast improvement in the lad.

Anyone see him on "Before the Game"?

His chinese whisper ended up with - "Hairy McLairy licked two dudes"

Gwilt was poor defensively in the first half. Campbell kicked 3 goals on him. I still like him as a rebounding defender. He's a linebreaker, both with his strength as well as his kicking.

My guess would be Allen and C.Gardiner out for Hayes and M.Gardiner.

Sounds good (if they were the changes, I wouldnt be opposed), however...

Birss is unlucky to get a game, week after week. But the same could have been said for Mini when Birss was getting games.

I also like having the flexibility of a Koschitzke/King ruck combination.

Allen is in dire need of some confidence, which he can get at Casey next week. Bring him in for the carlton game if he kicks a few for them. Looked extremely nervous at his first shot for goal in AFL, but who could blame him?

I'd still have Allen at CHF, with Roo as a floating wingman. Drop C. Gardiner and Gilbert for M. Gardiner and Hayes.

Doesnt look like hes lacking confidence to me attacked the pill hard crashed some packs and really made a presence. Hes playing 3rd or 4th string at the moment so hes not getting all the supply looks fearless overhead.

Wasn't Dempster playing on Campbell??? I thought Gwilt was very solid.
