Casey's 52 hit-outs to the Devils' 16 told the story of the ruck domination, while the Scorpions had 22 centre clearances to five for the match, completely smashing the Devils at the stoppages in the second half.
That is football OWNAGE to the highest degree...

Gwilt and Allen the two to make way for Birss and M Gardiner.

Surely.
Gwilt and Allen out for sure.

I went to Cranny (F*** it is miles away!), nice little ground in the bush though, and was massively impressed with Birss especially.

At 3/4 time there was an all dust up and Bakes was going nuts - Birss was yelling at Bakes to cut it out then addressed 5 or 6 players in a small huddle prior to Hutchy coming out. Birss showed some real leadership, as well as talent on the field!

Gardy improved continually through the game, but is barely fit enough at AFL level to play 50% game time (which may or may not be enough vs. the Hawks).

I'd say Gardy may be given another week to regain better fitness, and Schneider will return with Birss.

Schneider looked ready and had a good dip.

Interesting to note that Geary played forward for a lot of the game and was very good in the air taking leading and contested marks, problem he has is converting that form to AFL level.

What is clear to me, having seen the Scorps 3 times this year, is that plenty of Saints listed players are tried up forward at various stages - ie. to see if anyone can replace the Train in the FF type role.

As for Bakes - he is way off fitness and form wise, is really struggling. Raph is up and down and showed some good form but not solid enough for a recall just yet.

Rix was also front and centre in a melee at three quarter time
But he never lifted a finger-
>>>behind Jarryn Geary. The young right-footer had 24 kicks and 14 handballs, a 40-disposal day garnished with five tackles and two goals.
Birss had 37 possessions and laid 10 tackles, and Dunne had 26 touches and took 15 marks>>>
The Devils were brave and did not deserve the vulgar language directed their way from a handful of beer-swilling ferals on the balcony of the social club.
there was ONE but he was vulgar......

hey saintbrat, I'm all for local papers but seriously, 24 kicks and 14 handpasses does not equate 40 posessions.... my one year old nephew could tell you that!

But that is awesome form, especially since the VFL is more a get it and kick it long type of comp compared to the AFL

One game does not make "awesome form". Needs to back it up next week with a solid performance.

wasn't he BOG the week before in the loss to willy?

I think it's more the fact that he is still a young developing player, it's not like a dal or a thommo going back and racking up 40 odd posessions

It is good to read that Geary, Birss, Schneider and Gardi all had good games.

As RL mentioned the other day Geary once his body matures is going to be a real asset.

And? The results? Can anyone play at FF??

Or should we be looking for a trade?? I have already identified Mitch Clarke and Lachy Henderson (Lions), Lachy Hansen, Scott Gumbleton, Mitch Thorp as possible targets. I was also thinking we could go after Tim Boyle from the hawks? Not sure what we have to trade with though? Not much i wouldnt think.

Geary can and did play FF, can take contested marks, can lead and mark also.

OK, he hasn't done this or has been tried up forward at AFL level, and VFL is a fair step down, but it may be something for next year as he develops and grows.....an absolutely massive talent without a doubt, watch this space....
