Saints - it's all or nothing

Post: # 605053Post perfectionist »

North's win over Collingwood sets the scene for an all or nothing game against the Hawks. Depending on other games this weekend, this game may well determine our final eight prospects. A loss could see us, effectively, two games out with six to play. Can there be any greater incentive?

A loss will, at worst, leave us 2 points out of the eight with 6 games to go. Our percentage means nothing against North since they have a draw. I wouldn't be banking on Adelaide or Brisbane making finals right now either.

not to toe the clubs firm line on the situation i think that we should be concintrating on getting the team to play a consistant 4 qtr game at a higher standard and let the results sort themself out ? if we expect the boys to lift or give something extra this cause its and important game then why the heck dont they every week ? in the big picture the final 8 doesnt mean squat if we dont start to play as we know we can

never underestimate a game at subi oval !! ive been to countless subi games and have only witnessed our boys previal twice so by that i always find it hard to be overly confiedent in anything at subi oval

One could say on the positive side that the Pies losing now gives us a crack at the 4

If we lose this week I would still judge our run home easier than the Roos.....

we could lose to both the Pies and Hawks and still make the 8....but if we do not win at least one of thee matches there is probably little point making the eigth...

While tonight is a bid game I don't think it has that much bearing on us making the 8. Regardless of what happens tonight I think we're a big chance of winning the last 6 games. None of our 6 remaining opponents are anywhere near as imposing as the Hawks.

North winning last night has increased the prize for a win tonight..(A real chance at 5th and we'd have to suffer a pretty big form loss to miss the 8) ...

....however it has also increased the punishment for a loss (Would make both Subi games 100% must win or our destiny might not be in our own hands)

If we can't challenge a top 4 team, making the finals will end in disappointment.

Tonight, an epic contest ensues.

We'll see how far we've come or how far behind we are.

Hmm. Very excited.

I think increased pressure is a good thing. We seem to do well when the chips are down.

A crack at the four? Sheesh, 8 days from now we could be in fourth spot.

There be no question whatsoever that we MUST win tonight and expend every bit of energy we have.

A win will give us a HUGE boost in the way of finals, will give us a REAL chance of getting 5th or 6th, and keep ALIVE our hopes of finishing 4th.

A loss - screw me - would have us struggling to grab 8th by the end of the year.

We have to win. There can be no two ways about it.

We've had about 10 season defining matches this year, but if we can get up and grab this one, anything could happen. We must keep that hope alive.

Win. Win. Win.

not really - we can drop this and still be in the hunt for 6th.

what im looking for is a highly competitive performance tonight. we can then go on and win 6 from our last 6.

game against pies will be the big one. all others are very winnable (if we are any good).

14 wins will get us 6th.
